verse 1

ॐ श्रीमाता श्रीमहाराज्ञी श्रीमत्-सिंहासनेश्वरी ।

Oṃ śrīmātā śrīmahārājñī śrīmat-siṃhāsaneśvarī |

Om. Shrimata, the auspicious Mother; Shrimaharajni, the great Queen; Shrimat-Simhasaneshvari, mistress of the glorious lion-throne.

चिदग्नि-कुण्ड-सम्भूता देवकार्य-समुद्यता

Cidagni-kuṇḍa-sambhūtā devakārya-samudyatā

Born from the fire-pit of consciousness; risen up to accomplish the work of the gods.

verse 2

उद्यद्भानु-सहस्राभा चतुर्बाहु-समन्विता ।

Udyadbhānu-sahasrābhā caturbāhu-samanvitā |

Whose radiance is that of a thousand rising suns; endowed with four arms.

रागस्वरूप-पाशाढ्या क्रोधाकाराङ्कुशोज्ज्वला

Rāgasvarūpa-pāśāḍhyā krodhākārāṅkuśojjvalā

Rich with the noose that is desire itself; blazing with the goad whose form is anger.

verse 3

मनोरूपेक्षु-कोदण्डा पञ्चतन्मात्र-सायका ।

Manorūpekṣu-kodaṇḍā pañcatanmātra-sāyakā |

Whose sugarcane bow is the mind; whose five arrows are the five subtle elements.

निजारुण-प्रभापूर-मज्जद्ब्रह्माण्ड-मण्डला

Nijāruṇa-prabhāpūra-majjadbrahmāṇḍa-maṇḍalā

In the flood of whose own red radiance the whole circle of world-eggs lies bathed.

verse 4

चम्पकाशोक-पुन्नाग-सौगन्धिक-लसत्कचा ।

Campakāśoka-punnāga-saugandhika-lasatkacā |

Whose hair shines with champaka, ashoka, punnaga and saugandhika blossoms.

कुरुविन्दमणि-श्रेणी-कनत्कोटीर-मण्डिता

Kuruvindamaṇi-śreṇī-kanatkoṭīra-maṇḍitā

Adorned with a crown gleaming with rows of ruby gems.

verse 5

अष्टमीचन्द्र-विभ्राज-दलिकस्थल-शोभिता ।

Aṣṭamīcandra-vibhrāja-dalikasthala-śobhitā |

Whose brow shines like the moon of the eighth night.

मुखचन्द्र-कलङ्काभ-मृगनाभि-विशेषका

Mukhacandra-kalaṅkābha-mṛganābhi-viśeṣakā

The musk mark on whose moon-like face is as the moon's own dark spot.

verse 6

वदनस्मर-माङ्गल्य-गृहतोरण-चिल्लिका ।

Vadanasmara-māṅgalya-gṛhatoraṇa-cillikā |

Whose eyebrows are the festal arch over the auspicious house of love that is her face.

वक्त्रलक्ष्मी-परीवाह-चलन्मीनाभ-लोचना

Vaktralakṣmī-parīvāha-calanmīnābha-locanā

Whose eyes stir like fish in the flowing stream of her face's beauty.

verse 7

नवचम्पक-पुष्पाभ-नासादण्ड-विराजिता ।

Navacampaka-puṣpābha-nāsādaṇḍa-virājitā |

Whose nose-line is lovely as a fresh champaka bud.

ताराकान्ति-तिरस्कारि-नासाभरण-भासुरा

Tārākānti-tiraskāri-nāsābharaṇa-bhāsurā

Resplendent with a nose-jewel that puts the brightness of the stars to shame.

verse 8

कदम्बमञ्जरी-कॢप्त-कर्णपूर-मनोहरा ।

Kadambamañjarī-kḷpta-karṇapūra-manoharā |

Enchanting with ear-flowers fashioned from clusters of kadamba blossom.

ताटङ्क-युगली-भूत-तपनोडुप-मण्डला

Tāṭaṅka-yugalī-bhūta-tapanoḍupa-maṇḍalā

Whose pair of ear-pendants are the discs of the sun and the moon.

verse 9

पद्मराग-शिलादर्श-परिभावि-कपोलभूः ।

Padmarāga-śilādarśa-paribhāvi-kapolabhūḥ |

Whose cheeks outdo mirrors cut from ruby stone.

नवविद्रुम-बिम्बश्री-न्यक्कारि-रदनच्छदा

Navavidruma-bimbaśrī-nyakkāri-radanacchadā

Whose lips shame the beauty of fresh coral and the bimba fruit.

verse 10

शुद्ध-विद्याङ्कुराकार-द्विजपङ्क्ति-द्वयोज्ज्वला ।

Śuddha-vidyāṅkurākāra-dvijapaṅkti-dvayojjvalā |

Whose two rows of teeth gleam like sprouting shoots of the pure vidya.

कर्पूर-वीटिकामोद-समाकर्षि-दिगन्तरा

Karpūra-vīṭikāmoda-samākarṣi-digantarā

The fragrance of whose camphor-scented betel draws in every quarter of space.

verse 11

निज-सल्लाप-माधुर्य-विनिर्भर्त्सित-कच्छपी ।

Nija-sallāpa-mādhurya-vinirbhartsita-kacchapī |

The sweetness of whose speech puts the vina Kachchhapi to shame.

मन्दस्मित-प्रभापूर-मज्जत्कामेश-मानसा

Mandasmita-prabhāpūra-majjatkāmeśa-mānasā

In the flood of whose faint smile the mind of Kamesha lies drowned.

verse 12

अनाकलित-सादृश्य-चिबुकश्री-विराजिता ।

Anākalita-sādṛśya-cibukaśrī-virājitā |

Radiant with a chin whose beauty finds nothing to be compared with.

कामेश-बद्ध-माङ्गल्य-सूत्र-शोभित-कन्धरा

Kāmeśa-baddha-māṅgalya-sūtra-śobhita-kandharā

Whose neck is graced by the marriage-thread that Kamesha tied.

verse 13

कनकाङ्गद-केयूर-कमनीय-भुजान्विता ।

Kanakāṅgada-keyūra-kamanīya-bhujānvitā |

Whose lovely arms are clasped with golden armlets and bracelets.

रत्नग्रैवेय-चिन्ताक-लोल-मुक्ता-फलान्विता

Ratnagraiveya-cintāka-lola-muktā-phalānvitā

Wearing a jewelled neck-ornament with its pendant and swaying pearls.

verse 14

कामेश्वर-प्रेमरत्न-मणि-प्रतिपण-स्तनी ।

Kāmeśvara-premaratna-maṇi-pratipaṇa-stanī |

Whose breasts are the price rendered back for the jewel of Kameshvara's love.

नाभ्यालवाल-रोमालि-लता-फल-कुचद्वयी

Nābhyālavāla-romāli-latā-phala-kucadvayī

Whose two breasts are the fruit borne by the creeper of hair rising from the basin of her navel.

verse 15

लक्ष्यरोम-लताधारता-समुन्नेय-मध्यमा ।

Lakṣyaroma-latādhāratā-samunneya-madhyamā |

Whose waist can only be inferred, as that which must be bearing the visible creeper of hair.

स्तनभार-दलन्मध्य-पट्टबन्ध-वलित्रया

Stanabhāra-dalanmadhya-paṭṭabandha-valitrayā

Whose three belly-folds are as a bandage binding a waist breaking under the weight of her breasts.

verse 16

अरुणारुण-कौसुम्भ-वस्त्र-भास्वत्-कटीतटी ।

Aruṇāruṇa-kausumbha-vastra-bhāsvat-kaṭītaṭī |

Whose hips shine with a garment of deep safflower red.

रत्न-किङ्किणिका-रम्य-रशना-दाम-भूषिता

Ratna-kiṅkiṇikā-ramya-raśanā-dāma-bhūṣitā

Adorned with a girdle-string lovely with its little jewelled bells.

verse 17

कामेश-ज्ञात-सौभाग्य-मार्दवोरु-द्वयान्विता ।

Kāmeśa-jñāta-saubhāgya-mārdavoru-dvayānvitā |

Whose two soft thighs, and the beauty of them, Kamesha alone knows.

माणिक्य-मुकुटाकार-जानुद्वय-विराजिता

Māṇikya-mukuṭākāra-jānudvaya-virājitā

Radiant with two knees shaped like crowns of ruby.

verse 18

इन्द्रगोप-परिक्षिप्त-स्मरतूणाभ-जङ्घिका ।

Indragopa-parikṣipta-smaratūṇābha-jaṅghikā |

Whose calves are like Kama's quivers strewn over with scarlet indragopa insects.

गूढगुल्फा कूर्मपृष्ठ-जयिष्णु-प्रपदान्विता

Gūḍhagulphā kūrmapṛṣṭha-jayiṣṇu-prapadānvitā

Whose ankles are hidden from sight; whose insteps outdo the arch of a tortoise's back.

verse 19

नख-दीधिति-संछन्न-नमज्जन-तमोगुणा ।

Nakha-dīdhiti-saṃchanna-namajjana-tamoguṇā |

The radiance of whose toenails drives out the darkness in those who bow to her.

पदद्वय-प्रभाजाल-पराकृत-सरोरुहा

Padadvaya-prabhājāla-parākṛta-saroruhā

The net of light from whose two feet puts the lotus out of countenance.

verse 20

सिञ्जान-मणिमञ्जीर-मण्डित-श्री-पदाम्बुजा ।

Siñjāna-maṇimañjīra-maṇḍita-śrī-padāmbujā |

Whose lotus feet are graced with jewelled anklets that chime as she moves.

मराली-मन्दगमना महालावण्य-शेवधिः

Marālī-mandagamanā mahālāvaṇya-śevadhiḥ

Whose gait is the slow grace of a swan; the treasure-hoard of great loveliness.

verse 21

सर्वारुणाऽनवद्याङ्गी सर्वाभरण-भूषिता ।

Sarvāruṇā'navadyāṅgī sarvābharaṇa-bhūṣitā |

Red from head to foot; flawless of limb; adorned with every ornament.

शिव-कामेश्वराङ्कस्था शिवा स्वाधीन-वल्लभा

Śiva-kāmeśvarāṅkasthā śivā svādhīna-vallabhā

Seated on the lap of Shiva-Kameshvara; Shiva's own; she whose beloved is under her sway.

verse 22

सुमेरु-मध्य-शृङ्गस्था श्रीमन्नगर-नायिका ।

Sumeru-madhya-śṛṅgasthā śrīmannagara-nāyikā |

Seated on the middle peak of Sumeru; mistress of the glorious City.

चिन्तामणि-गृहान्तस्था पञ्च-ब्रह्मासन-स्थिता

Cintāmaṇi-gṛhāntasthā pañca-brahmāsana-sthitā

Dwelling within the house of the wish-granting gem; seated on the throne of the five Brahmas.

verse 23

महापद्माटवी-संस्था कदम्बवन-वासिनी ।

Mahāpadmāṭavī-saṃsthā kadambavana-vāsinī |

Abiding in the forest of great lotuses; dwelling in the kadamba grove.

सुधासागर-मध्यस्था कामाक्षी कामदायिनी

Sudhāsāgara-madhyasthā kāmākṣī kāmadāyinī

Abiding in the midst of the ocean of nectar; Kamakshi, whose eyes hold desire; giver of what is desired.

verse 24

देवर्षि-गण-संघात-स्तूयमानात्म-वैभवा ।

Devarṣi-gaṇa-saṃghāta-stūyamānātma-vaibhavā |

Whose own greatness is praised by the assembled hosts of gods and seers.

भण्डासुर-वधोद्युक्त-शक्तिसेना-समन्विता

Bhaṇḍāsura-vadhodyukta-śaktisenā-samanvitā

Attended by her army of Shaktis, roused to the slaying of the asura Bhanda.

verse 25

सम्पत्करी-समारूढ-सिन्धुर-व्रज-सेविता ।

Sampatkarī-samārūḍha-sindhura-vraja-sevitā |

Attended by the elephant host led by Sampatkari mounted at their head.

अश्वारूढाधिष्ठिताश्व-कोटि-कोटिभिरावृता

Aśvārūḍhādhiṣṭhitāśva-koṭi-koṭibhirāvṛtā

Surrounded by ten million upon ten million horses under Ashvarudha's command.

verse 26

चक्रराज-रथारूढ-सर्वायुध-परिष्कृता ।

Cakrarāja-rathārūḍha-sarvāyudha-pariṣkṛtā |

Mounted on the Chakraraja chariot, furnished with every weapon.

गेयचक्र-रथारूढ-मन्त्रिणी-परिसेविता

Geyacakra-rathārūḍha-mantriṇī-parisevitā

Waited upon by Mantrini mounted on the Geyachakra chariot.

verse 27

किरिचक्र-रथारूढ-दण्डनाथा-पुरस्कृता ।

Kiricakra-rathārūḍha-daṇḍanāthā-puraskṛtā |

Preceded by Dandanatha mounted on the Kirichakra chariot.

ज्वाला-मालिनिकाक्षिप्त-वह्निप्राकार-मध्यगा

Jvālā-mālinikākṣipta-vahniprākāra-madhyagā

Moving within the rampart of fire that Jvalamalini cast about her.

verse 28

भण्डसैन्य-वधोद्युक्त-शक्ति-विक्रम-हर्षिता ।

Bhaṇḍasainya-vadhodyukta-śakti-vikrama-harṣitā |

Gladdened by the valour of the Shaktis roused to destroy Bhanda's army.

नित्या-पराक्रमाटोप-निरीक्षण-समुत्सुका

Nityā-parākramāṭopa-nirīkṣaṇa-samutsukā

Eager to watch the swelling prowess of the Nitya goddesses.

verse 29

भण्डपुत्र-वधोद्युक्त-बाला-विक्रम-नन्दिता ।

Bhaṇḍaputra-vadhodyukta-bālā-vikrama-nanditā |

Delighted by the valour of Bala, roused to slay Bhanda's sons.

मन्त्रिण्यम्बा-विरचित-विषङ्ग-वध-तोषिता

Mantriṇyambā-viracita-viṣaṅga-vadha-toṣitā

Pleased by the slaying of Vishanga, contrived by Mother Mantrini.

verse 30

विशुक्र-प्राणहरण-वाराही-वीर्य-नन्दिता ।

Viśukra-prāṇaharaṇa-vārāhī-vīrya-nanditā |

Rejoicing in Varahi's might, that took the life of Vishukra.

कामेश्वर-मुखालोक-कल्पित-श्रीगणेश्वरा

Kāmeśvara-mukhāloka-kalpita-śrīgaṇeśvarā

Who created Shri Ganeshvara by a glance at Kameshvara's face.

verse 31

महागणेश-निर्भिन्न-विघ्नयन्त्र-प्रहर्षिता ।

Mahāgaṇeśa-nirbhinna-vighnayantra-praharṣitā |

Greatly gladdened when Mahaganesha broke the obstacle-machine apart.

भण्डासुरेन्द्र-निर्मुक्त-शस्त्र-प्रत्यस्त्र-वर्षिणी

Bhaṇḍāsurendra-nirmukta-śastra-pratyastra-varṣiṇī

Who rained counter-weapons against every missile the asura lord Bhanda loosed.

verse 32

कराङ्गुलि-नखोत्पन्न-नारायण-दशाकृतिः ।

Karāṅguli-nakhotpanna-nārāyaṇa-daśākṛtiḥ |

From the nails of whose fingers sprang the ten forms of Narayana.

महा-पाशुपतास्त्राग्नि-निर्दग्धासुर-सैनिका

Mahā-pāśupatāstrāgni-nirdagdhāsura-sainikā

By whose great Pashupata missile's fire the asura soldiery was burnt away.

verse 33

कामेश्वरास्त्र-निर्दग्ध-सभण्डासुर-शून्यका ।

Kāmeśvarāstra-nirdagdha-sabhaṇḍāsura-śūnyakā |

Who by the Kameshvara missile burnt Bhandasura away and left the place empty of him.

ब्रह्मोपेन्द्र-महेन्द्रादि-देव-संस्तुत-वैभवा

Brahmopendra-mahendrādi-deva-saṃstuta-vaibhavā

Whose greatness Brahma, Upendra, Mahendra and the rest of the gods together praise.

verse 34

हर-नेत्राग्नि-संदग्ध-काम-सञ्जीवनौषधिः ।

Hara-netrāgni-saṃdagdha-kāma-sañjīvanauṣadhiḥ |

The herb that brought Kama back to life after Hara's eye-fire had burnt him.

श्रीमद्वाग्भव-कूटैक-स्वरूप-मुख-पङ्कजा

Śrīmadvāgbhava-kūṭaika-svarūpa-mukha-paṅkajā

Whose lotus face is the single form of the glorious Vagbhava syllable-cluster.

verse 35

कण्ठाधः-कटि-पर्यन्त-मध्यकूट-स्वरूपिणी ।

Kaṇṭhādhaḥ-kaṭi-paryanta-madhyakūṭa-svarūpiṇī |

Whose form from below the throat to the waist is the middle syllable-cluster.

शक्ति-कूटैकतापन्न-कट्यधोभाग-धारिणी

Śakti-kūṭaikatāpanna-kaṭyadhobhāga-dhāriṇī

Who bears in the part below her waist the single Shakti syllable-cluster.

verse 36

मूल-मन्त्रात्मिका मूलकूटत्रय-कलेवरा ।

Mūla-mantrātmikā mūlakūṭatraya-kalevarā |

Whose very self is the root mantra; whose body is the three root clusters.

कुलामृतैक-रसिका कुलसंकेत-पालिनी

Kulāmṛtaika-rasikā kulasaṃketa-pālinī

Who savours the nectar of the Kula alone; keeper of the Kula covenant.

verse 37

कुलाङ्गना कुलान्तस्था कौलिनी कुलयोगिनी ।

Kulāṅganā kulāntasthā kaulinī kulayoginī |

The woman of the Kula; who dwells within the Kula; the Kaulini; the yogini of the Kula.

अकुला समयान्तस्था समयाचार-तत्परा

Akulā samayāntasthā samayācāra-tatparā

The Akula, beyond the Kula; who abides within Samaya; devoted to the Samaya observance.

verse 38

मूलाधारैक-निलया ब्रह्मग्रन्थि-विभेदिनी ।

Mūlādhāraika-nilayā brahmagranthi-vibhedinī |

Whose one dwelling is the Muladhara; who splits the knot of Brahma.

मणि-पूरान्तरुदिता विष्णुग्रन्थि-विभेदिनी

Maṇi-pūrāntaruditā viṣṇugranthi-vibhedinī

Who rises within the Manipura; who splits the knot of Vishnu.

verse 39

आज्ञा-चक्रान्तरालस्था रुद्रग्रन्थि-विभेदिनी ।

Ājñā-cakrāntarālasthā rudragranthi-vibhedinī |

Who abides within the Ajna wheel; who splits the knot of Rudra.

सहस्राराम्बुजारूढा सुधा-साराभिवर्षिणी

Sahasrārāmbujārūḍhā sudhā-sārābhivarṣiṇī

Who mounts the thousand-petalled lotus; who rains down the essence of nectar.

verse 40

तडिल्लता-समरुचिः षट्चक्रोपरि-संस्थिता ।

Taḍillatā-samaruciḥ ṣaṭcakropari-saṃsthitā |

Whose lustre is that of a streak of lightning; established above the six wheels.

महासक्तिः कुण्डलिनी बिसतन्तु-तनीयसी

Mahāsaktiḥ kuṇḍalinī bisatantu-tanīyasī

Of great attachment; Kundalini; finer than the fibre in a lotus stalk.

verse 41

भवानी भावनागम्या भवारण्य-कुठारिका ।

Bhavānī bhāvanāgamyā bhavāraṇya-kuṭhārikā |

Bhavani; reached by contemplation alone; the axe that fells the forest of worldly becoming.

भद्रप्रिया भद्रमूर्तिर्भक्त-सौभाग्यदायिनी

Bhadrapriyā bhadramūrtirbhakta-saubhāgyadāyinī

To whom the auspicious is dear; whose very form is the auspicious; who grants good fortune to those who love her.

verse 42

भक्तिप्रिया भक्तिगम्या भक्तिवश्या भयापहा ।

Bhaktipriyā bhaktigamyā bhaktivaśyā bhayāpahā |

To whom devotion is dear; reached by devotion; won over by devotion; who takes fear away.

शाम्भवी शारदाराध्या शर्वाणी शर्मदायिनी

Śāmbhavī śāradārādhyā śarvāṇī śarmadāyinī

Shambhavi, Shambhu's own; worshipped by Sharada; Sharvani, Sharva's own; giver of ease.

verse 43

शाङ्करी श्रीकरी साध्वी शरच्चन्द्र-निभानना ।

Śāṅkarī śrīkarī sādhvī śaraccandra-nibhānanā |

Shankari, Shankara's own; who brings prosperity about; the true and chaste; whose face is the autumn moon.

शातोदरी शान्तिमती निराधारा निरञ्जना

Śātodarī śāntimatī nirādhārā nirañjanā

Of slender waist; full of peace; who rests on no support; the unstained.

verse 44

निर्लेपा निर्मला नित्या निराकारा निराकुला ।

Nirlepā nirmalā nityā nirākārā nirākulā |

Untouched by anything; without stain; eternal; without form; never agitated.

निर्गुणा निष्कला शान्ता निष्कामा निरुपप्लवा

Nirguṇā niṣkalā śāntā niṣkāmā nirupaplavā

Without qualities; without parts; wholly at rest; without desire; whom no calamity touches.

verse 45

नित्यमुक्ता निर्विकारा निष्प्रपञ्चा निराश्रया ।

Nityamuktā nirvikārā niṣprapañcā nirāśrayā |

Free for ever; without change; beyond the spread of the world; needing nothing to lean on.

नित्यशुद्धा नित्यबुद्धा निरवद्या निरन्तरा

Nityaśuddhā nityabuddhā niravadyā nirantarā

Pure for ever; awake for ever; without fault; without break or interval.

verse 46

निष्कारणा निष्कलङ्का निरुपाधिर्निरीश्वरा ।

Niṣkāraṇā niṣkalaṅkā nirupādhirnirīśvarā |

Without cause; without blemish; bound by no limiting condition; having no lord above her.

नीरागा रागमथनी निर्मदा मदनाशिनी

Nīrāgā rāgamathanī nirmadā madanāśinī

Without passion, and the churner of passion; without pride, and the destroyer of pride.

verse 47

निश्चिन्ता निरहंकारा निर्मोहा मोहनाशिनी ।

Niścintā nirahaṃkārā nirmohā mohanāśinī |

Without anxiety, and the ender of anxiety; without ego; without delusion, and the destroyer of delusion.

निर्ममा ममताहन्त्री निष्पापा पापनाशिनी

Nirmamā mamatāhantrī niṣpāpā pāpanāśinī

Without mine-ness, and the slayer of possessiveness; without sin, and the destroyer of sin.

verse 48

निष्क्रोधा क्रोधशमनी निर्लोभा लोभनाशिनी ।

Niṣkrodhā krodhaśamanī nirlobhā lobhanāśinī |

Without anger, and the queller of anger; without greed, and the destroyer of greed.

निःसंशया संशयघ्नी निर्भवा भवनाशिनी

Niḥsaṃśayā saṃśayaghnī nirbhavā bhavanāśinī

Without doubt, and the slayer of doubt; without becoming, and the destroyer of worldly becoming.

verse 49

निर्विकल्पा निराबाधा निर्भेदा भेदनाशिनी ।

Nirvikalpā nirābādhā nirbhedā bhedanāśinī |

Beyond all alternatives; unobstructed; without division, and the destroyer of division.

निर्नाशा मृत्युमथनी निष्क्रिया निष्परिग्रहा

Nirnāśā mṛtyumathanī niṣkriyā niṣparigrahā

Who never perishes; the churner of death; who performs no action; who takes nothing to herself.

verse 50

निस्तुला नीलचिकुरा निरपाया निरत्यया ।

Nistulā nīlacikurā nirapāyā niratyayā |

Beyond compare; of dark blue hair; from whom no harm comes; who knows no passing away.

दुर्लभा दुर्गमा दुर्गा दुःखहन्त्री सुखप्रदा

Durlabhā durgamā durgā duḥkhahantrī sukhapradā

Hard to obtain; hard to approach; Durga; the slayer of sorrow; the giver of ease.

verse 51

दुष्टदूरा दुराचार-शमनी दोषवर्जिता ।

Duṣṭadūrā durācāra-śamanī doṣavarjitā |

Far from the wicked; who quiets ill conduct; in whom no fault is found.

सर्वज्ञा सान्द्रकरुणा समानाधिक-वर्जिता

Sarvajñā sāndrakaruṇā samānādhika-varjitā

सर्वशक्तिमयी सर्व-मङ्गला सद्गतिप्रदा ।

Sarvaśaktimayī sarva-maṅgalā sadgatipradā |

Made of every power; auspicious in every way; who grants the true goal.

सर्वेश्वरी सर्वमयी सर्वमन्त्र-स्वरूपिणी

Sarveśvarī sarvamayī sarvamantra-svarūpiṇī

Sovereign of all; made of all; whose very form is every mantra.

verse 53

सर्व-यन्त्रात्मिका सर्व-तन्त्ररूपा मनोन्मनी ।

Sarva-yantrātmikā sarva-tantrarūpā manonmanī |

Whose self is every yantra; whose form is every tantra; Manonmani, the mind risen beyond mind.

माहेश्वरी महादेवी महालक्ष्मीर्मृडप्रिया

Māheśvarī mahādevī mahālakṣmīrmṛḍapriyā

Maheshvari; the great goddess; Mahalakshmi; dear to Mrida.

verse 54

महारूपा महापूज्या महापातक-नाशिनी ।

Mahārūpā mahāpūjyā mahāpātaka-nāśinī |

Of great form; greatly to be worshipped; who destroys the great sins.

महामाया महासत्त्वा महाशक्तिर्महारतिः

Mahāmāyā mahāsattvā mahāśaktirmahāratiḥ

The great Maya; of great being; the great Shakti; the great delight.

verse 55

महाभोगा महैश्वर्या महावीर्या महाबला ।

Mahābhogā mahaiśvaryā mahāvīryā mahābalā |

Of great enjoyment; of great sovereignty; of great valour; of great strength.

महाबुद्धिर्महासिद्धिर्महायोगेश्वरेश्वरी

Mahābuddhirmahāsiddhirmahāyogeśvareśvarī

Of great understanding; of great attainment; sovereign over the lords of the great yoga.

महातन्त्रा महामन्त्रा महायन्त्रा महासना ।

Mahātantrā mahāmantrā mahāyantrā mahāsanā |

The great tantra; the great mantra; the great yantra; the great seat.

महायाग-क्रमाराध्या महाभैरव-पूजिता

Mahāyāga-kramārādhyā mahābhairava-pūjitā

Worshipped by the order of the great sacrifice; adored by Mahabhairava.

महेश्वर-महाकल्प-महाताण्डव-साक्षिणी ।

Maheśvara-mahākalpa-mahātāṇḍava-sākṣiṇī |

The witness of Maheshvara's great dance at the great dissolution.

महाकामेश-महिषी महात्रिपुर-सुन्दरी

Mahākāmeśa-mahiṣī mahātripura-sundarī

The queen consort of the great Kamesha; the great Tripurasundari.

verse 58

चतुःषष्ट्युपचाराढ्या चतुःषष्टिकलामयी ।

Catuḥṣaṣṭyupacārāḍhyā catuḥṣaṣṭikalāmayī |

Rich in the sixty-four rites of service; made of the sixty-four arts.

महाचतुः-षष्टिकोटि-योगिनी-गणसेविता

Mahācatuḥ-ṣaṣṭikoṭi-yoginī-gaṇasevitā

Served by the host of the great sixty-four crores of yoginis.

verse 59

मनुविद्या चन्द्रविद्या चन्द्रमण्डल-मध्यगा ।

Manuvidyā candravidyā candramaṇḍala-madhyagā |

The Manu vidya; the Chandra vidya; who abides at the centre of the moon's disc.

चारुरूपा चारुहासा चारुचन्द्र-कलाधरा

Cārurūpā cāruhāsā cārucandra-kalādharā

Of lovely form; of lovely smile; who wears the lovely crescent moon.

verse 60

चराचर-जगन्नाथा चक्रराज-निकेतना ।

Carācara-jagannāthā cakrarāja-niketanā |

Mistress of the world of things that move and things that do not; whose dwelling is the Chakraraja.

पार्वती पद्मनयना पद्मराग-समप्रभा

Pārvatī padmanayanā padmarāga-samaprabhā

Parvati; lotus-eyed; whose radiance is that of the ruby.

verse 61

पञ्च-प्रेतासनासीना पञ्चब्रह्म-स्वरूपिणी ।

Pañca-pretāsanāsīnā pañcabrahma-svarūpiṇī |

Seated on the couch borne by the five corpses; whose form is the five Brahmas.

चिन्मयी परमानन्दा विज्ञान-घनरूपिणी

Cinmayī paramānandā vijñāna-ghanarūpiṇī

Made of pure consciousness; the highest bliss; whose form is knowledge massed and undivided.

verse 62

ध्यान-ध्यातृ-ध्येयरूपा धर्माधर्म-विवर्जिता ।

Dhyāna-dhyātṛ-dhyeyarūpā dharmādharma-vivarjitā |

Whose form is the meditation, the meditator and the thing meditated on; free of both merit and demerit.

विश्वरूपा जागरिणी स्वपन्ती तैजसात्मिका

Viśvarūpā jāgariṇī svapantī taijasātmikā

Whose form is the universe; the waking one; the dreaming one; whose self is Taijasa.

verse 63

सुप्ता प्राज्ञात्मिका तुर्या सर्वावस्था-विवर्जिता ।

Suptā prājñātmikā turyā sarvāvasthā-vivarjitā |

The sleeping one; whose self is Prajna; the fourth; and free of all these states alike.

सृष्टिकर्त्री ब्रह्मरूपा गोप्त्री गोविन्दरूपिणी

Sṛṣṭikartrī brahmarūpā goptrī govindarūpiṇī

Maker of creation, in the form of Brahma; protector, in the form of Govinda.

verse 64

संहारिणी रुद्ररूपा तिरोधान-करीश्वरी ।

Saṃhāriṇī rudrarūpā tirodhāna-karīśvarī |

Destroyer, in the form of Rudra; the sovereign who works the withdrawal of all.

सदाशिवाऽनुग्रहदा पञ्चकृत्य-परायणा

Sadāśivā'nugrahadā pañcakṛtya-parāyaṇā

Sadashiva; the giver of grace; wholly given to the five acts.

verse 65

भानुमण्डल-मध्यस्था भैरवी भगमालिनी ।

Bhānumaṇḍala-madhyasthā bhairavī bhagamālinī |

Who abides at the centre of the sun's disc; Bhairavi; Bhagamalini.

पद्मासना भगवती पद्मनाभ-सहोदरी

Padmāsanā bhagavatī padmanābha-sahodarī

Seated on the lotus; Bhagavati; born of the same womb as Padmanabha.

verse 66

उन्मेष-निमिषोत्पन्न-विपन्न-भुवनावली ।

Unmeṣa-nimiṣotpanna-vipanna-bhuvanāvalī |

In whose opening and closing of the eyes the ranks of worlds arise and pass away.

सहस्र-शीर्षवदना सहस्राक्षी सहस्रपात्

Sahasra-śīrṣavadanā sahasrākṣī sahasrapāt

Of a thousand heads and faces; of a thousand eyes; of a thousand feet.

verse 67

आब्रह्म-कीट-जननी वर्णाश्रम-विधायिनी ।

Ābrahma-kīṭa-jananī varṇāśrama-vidhāyinī |

Mother of all from Brahma down to the worm; who ordains the order of varna and ashrama.

निजाज्ञारूप-निगमा पुण्यापुण्य-फलप्रदा

Nijājñārūpa-nigamā puṇyāpuṇya-phalapradā

Whose own command takes the form of the Vedas; who gives the fruit of merit and of demerit alike.

verse 68

श्रुति-सीमन्त-सिन्दूरी-कृत-पादाब्ज-धूलिका ।

Śruti-sīmanta-sindūrī-kṛta-pādābja-dhūlikā |

The dust of whose lotus feet reddens the parting in the hair of the Shrutis.

सकलागम-सन्दोह-शुक्ति-सम्पुट-मौक्तिका

Sakalāgama-sandoha-śukti-sampuṭa-mauktikā

The pearl within the shell-casket that is the whole mass of the Agamas.

verse 69

पुरुषार्थप्रदा पूर्णा भोगिनी भुवनेश्वरी ।

Puruṣārthapradā pūrṇā bhoginī bhuvaneśvarī |

Who grants the ends of human life; the full; the enjoyer; Bhuvaneshvari, sovereign of the worlds.

अम्बिकाऽनादि-निधना हरिब्रह्मेन्द्र-सेविता

Ambikā'nādi-nidhanā haribrahmendra-sevitā

Ambika, the mother; without beginning or end; served by Hari, Brahma and Indra.

verse 70

नारायणी नादरूपा नामरूप-विवर्जिता ।

Nārāyaṇī nādarūpā nāmarūpa-vivarjitā |

Narayani; whose form is sound itself; free of name and form alike.

ह्रींकारी ह्रीमती हृद्या हेयोपादेय-वर्जिता

Hrīṃkārī hrīmatī hṛdyā heyopādeya-varjitā

She of the syllable Hrim; possessed of modesty; dear to the heart; beyond what is to be shunned and what is to be taken up.

verse 71

राजराजार्चिता राज्ञी रम्या राजीवलोचना ।

Rājarājārcitā rājñī ramyā rājīvalocanā |

Worshipped by the king of kings; the queen; the delightful; lotus-eyed.

रञ्जनी रमणी रस्या रणत्किङ्किणि-मेखला

Rañjanī ramaṇī rasyā raṇatkiṅkiṇi-mekhalā

Who colours and delights; the lovely woman; full of savour; whose girdle-bells ring as she moves.

verse 72

रमा राकेन्दुवदना रतिरूपा रतिप्रिया ।

Ramā rākenduvadanā ratirūpā ratipriyā |

Rama; whose face is the moon of the full-moon night; whose form is delight; to whom delight is dear.

रक्षाकरी राक्षसघ्नी रामा रमणलम्पटा

Rakṣākarī rākṣasaghnī rāmā ramaṇalampaṭā

Who gives protection; the slayer of rakshasas; the gracious woman; who longs for her beloved.

verse 73

काम्या कामकलारूपा कदम्ब-कुसुम-प्रिया ।

Kāmyā kāmakalārūpā kadamba-kusuma-priyā |

The desirable; whose form is the Kamakala; to whom the kadamba blossom is dear.

कल्याणी जगतीकन्दा करुणा-रस-सागरा

Kalyāṇī jagatīkandā karuṇā-rasa-sāgarā

The auspicious; the tuber from which the world grows; an ocean of the essence of compassion.

verse 74

कलावती कलालापा कान्ता कादम्बरीप्रिया ।

Kalāvatī kalālāpā kāntā kādambarīpriyā |

Skilled in the arts; whose speech is itself an art; the beloved; to whom kadambari is dear.

वरदा वामनयना वारुणी-मद-विह्वला

Varadā vāmanayanā vāruṇī-mada-vihvalā

Giver of boons; of lovely eyes; swept away by the joy of the Varuni draught.

verse 75

विश्वाधिका वेदवेद्या विन्ध्याचल-निवासिनी ।

Viśvādhikā vedavedyā vindhyācala-nivāsinī |

Greater than the universe; to be known through the Veda; who dwells on the Vindhya range.

विधात्री वेदजननी विष्णुमाया विलासिनी

Vidhātrī vedajananī viṣṇumāyā vilāsinī

The ordainer; mother of the Vedas; the Maya of Vishnu; she who plays.

verse 76

क्षेत्रस्वरूपा क्षेत्रेशी क्षेत्र-क्षेत्रज्ञ-पालिनी ।

Kṣetrasvarūpā kṣetreśī kṣetra-kṣetrajña-pālinī |

Whose form is the field; mistress of the field; who protects both the field and the knower of the field.

क्षयवृद्धि-विनिर्मुक्ता क्षेत्रपाल-समर्चिता

Kṣayavṛddhi-vinirmuktā kṣetrapāla-samarcitā

Free of waning and waxing alike; worshipped by the guardians of the field.

verse 77

विजया विमला वन्द्या वन्दारु-जन-वत्सला ।

Vijayā vimalā vandyā vandāru-jana-vatsalā |

The victorious; the spotless; to be saluted; tender towards those who bow to her.

वाग्वादिनी वामकेशी वह्निमण्डल-वासिनी

Vāgvādinī vāmakeśī vahnimaṇḍala-vāsinī

Who speaks in speech itself; of beautiful hair; who dwells within the circle of fire.

verse 78

भक्तिमत्-कल्पलतिका पशुपाश-विमोचिनी ।

Bhaktimat-kalpalatikā paśupāśa-vimocinī |

The wish-granting creeper for those who love her; who unties the bonds that hold the beast.

संहृताशेष-पाषण्डा सदाचार-प्रवर्तिका

Saṃhṛtāśeṣa-pāṣaṇḍā sadācāra-pravartikā

By whom every heresy is drawn back and undone; who sets right conduct going.

verse 79

तापत्रयाग्नि-सन्तप्त-समाह्लादन-चन्द्रिका ।

Tāpatrayāgni-santapta-samāhlādana-candrikā |

The moonlight that cools those scorched by the fire of the three afflictions.

तरुणी तापसाराध्या तनुमध्या तमोऽपहा

Taruṇī tāpasārādhyā tanumadhyā tamo'pahā

The young woman; worshipped by ascetics; of slender waist; who takes darkness away.

verse 80

चितिस्तत्पद-लक्ष्यार्था चिदेकरस-रूपिणी ।

Citistatpada-lakṣyārthā cidekarasa-rūpiṇī |

Consciousness itself; the meaning aimed at by the word That; whose form is the one taste of awareness.

स्वात्मानन्द-लवीभूत-ब्रह्माद्यानन्द-सन्ततिः

Svātmānanda-lavībhūta-brahmādyānanda-santatiḥ

Beside whose own bliss the whole succession of joys from Brahma downward is a single drop.

verse 81

परा प्रत्यक्चितीरूपा पश्यन्ती परदेवता ।

Parā pratyakcitīrūpā paśyantī paradevatā |

Para, the highest speech; consciousness turned inward; Pashyanti, the seeing speech; the supreme deity.

मध्यमा वैखरीरूपा भक्त-मानस-हंसिका

Madhyamā vaikharīrūpā bhakta-mānasa-haṃsikā

Madhyama, the middle speech; whose form is Vaikhari, the uttered; the swan on the lake of her devotees' minds.

verse 82

कामेश्वर-प्राणनाडी कृतज्ञा कामपूजिता ।

Kāmeśvara-prāṇanāḍī kṛtajñā kāmapūjitā |

The very life-vein of Kameshvara; who remembers what is done for her; worshipped by Kama.

शृङ्गार-रस-सम्पूर्णा जया जालन्धर-स्थिता

Śṛṅgāra-rasa-sampūrṇā jayā jālandhara-sthitā

Filled to the brim with the mood of love; the victorious; who abides at Jalandhara.

verse 83

ओड्याणपीठ-निलया बिन्दु-मण्डलवासिनी ।

Oḍyāṇapīṭha-nilayā bindu-maṇḍalavāsinī |

Whose dwelling is the Odyana seat; who abides in the circle of the bindu.

रहोयाग-क्रमाराध्या रहस्तर्पण-तर्पिता

Rahoyāga-kramārādhyā rahastarpaṇa-tarpitā

Worshipped by the order of the secret rite; satisfied by the secret offering.

verse 84

सद्यःप्रसादिनी विश्व-साक्षिणी साक्षिवर्जिता ।

Sadyaḥprasādinī viśva-sākṣiṇī sākṣivarjitā |

Who is pleased at once; witness of the universe; who has no witness above her.

षडङ्गदेवता-युक्ता षाड्गुण्य-परिपूरिता

Ṣaḍaṅgadevatā-yuktā ṣāḍguṇya-paripūritā

Attended by the deities of the six limbs; filled full with the six perfections.

verse 85

नित्यक्लिन्ना निरुपमा निर्वाण-सुख-दायिनी ।

Nityaklinnā nirupamā nirvāṇa-sukha-dāyinī |

Ever moist with compassion; beyond compare; giver of the joy of nirvana.

नित्या-षोडशिका-रूपा श्रीकण्ठार्ध-शरीरिणी

Nityā-ṣoḍaśikā-rūpā śrīkaṇṭhārdha-śarīriṇī

Whose form is the sixteen Nitya goddesses; who is half the body of Shrikantha.

verse 86

प्रभावती प्रभारूपा प्रसिद्धा परमेश्वरी ।

Prabhāvatī prabhārūpā prasiddhā parameśvarī |

Full of radiance; whose form is radiance; the renowned; the supreme sovereign.

मूलप्रकृतिरव्यक्ता व्यक्ताव्यक्त-स्वरूपिणी

Mūlaprakṛtiravyaktā vyaktāvyakta-svarūpiṇī

The root nature; the unmanifest; whose form is both the manifest and the unmanifest.

verse 87

व्यापिनी विविधाकारा विद्याविद्या-स्वरूपिणी ।

Vyāpinī vividhākārā vidyāvidyā-svarūpiṇī |

The all-pervading; of many shapes; whose form is knowledge and ignorance alike.

महाकामेश-नयन-कुमुदाह्लाद-कौमुदी

Mahākāmeśa-nayana-kumudāhlāda-kaumudī

The moonlight that opens the night-lotuses which are the eyes of the great Kamesha.

verse 88

भक्त-हार्द-तमोभेद-भानुमद्भानु-सन्ततिः ।

Bhakta-hārda-tamobheda-bhānumadbhānu-santatiḥ |

The unbroken sunlight that breaks the darkness in the hearts of those who love her.

शिवदूती शिवाराध्या शिवमूर्तिः शिवङ्करी

Śivadūtī śivārādhyā śivamūrtiḥ śivaṅkarī

Shivaduti, whose messenger is Shiva; worshipped by Shiva; whose form is Shiva; who works good.

verse 89

शिवप्रिया शिवपरा शिष्टेष्टा शिष्टपूजिता ।

Śivapriyā śivaparā śiṣṭeṣṭā śiṣṭapūjitā |

Dear to Shiva; devoted to Shiva; dear to the good; worshipped by the good.

अप्रमेया स्वप्रकाशा मनोवाचामगोचरा

Aprameyā svaprakāśā manovācāmagocarā

Beyond measure; self-luminous; beyond the reach of mind and speech.

verse 90

चिच्छक्तिश् चेतनारूपा जडशक्तिर्जडात्मिका ।

Cicchaktiś cetanārūpā jaḍaśaktirjaḍātmikā |

The power of consciousness; whose form is awareness; the power in inert things; whose self is the inert.

गायत्री व्याहृतिः सन्ध्या द्विजवृन्द-निषेविता

Gāyatrī vyāhṛtiḥ sandhyā dvijavṛnda-niṣevitā

Gayatri; the vyahriti utterances; the twilight worship; served by the assembly of the twice-born.

verse 91

तत्त्वासना तत्त्वमयी पञ्च-कोशान्तर-स्थिता ।

Tattvāsanā tattvamayī pañca-kośāntara-sthitā |

Whose seat is the tattvas; made of the tattvas; who abides within the five sheaths.

निःसीम-महिमा नित्य-यौवना मदशालिनी

Niḥsīma-mahimā nitya-yauvanā madaśālinī

Whose greatness has no boundary; forever young; radiant with the joy of wine.

verse 92

मदघूर्णित-रक्ताक्षी मदपाटल-गण्डभूः ।

Madaghūrṇita-raktākṣī madapāṭala-gaṇḍabhūḥ |

Whose reddened eyes swim with that joy; whose cheeks are flushed pale-red with it.

चन्दन-द्रव-दिग्धाङ्गी चाम्पेय-कुसुम-प्रिया

Candana-drava-digdhāṅgī cāmpeya-kusuma-priyā

Whose limbs are smeared with sandal paste; to whom the champaka blossom is dear.

verse 93

कुशला कोमलाकारा कुरुकुल्ला कुलेश्वरी ।

Kuśalā komalākārā kurukullā kuleśvarī |

Skilled in all things; of tender shape; Kurukulla; sovereign of the Kula.

कुलकुण्डालया कौल-मार्ग-तत्पर-सेविता

Kulakuṇḍālayā kaula-mārga-tatpara-sevitā

Whose dwelling is the Kula pit; served by those devoted to the Kaula path.

verse 94

कुमार-गणनाथाम्बा तुष्टिः पुष्टिर्मतिर्धृतिः ।

Kumāra-gaṇanāthāmbā tuṣṭiḥ puṣṭirmatirdhṛtiḥ |

Mother of Kumara and of the lord of the ganas; contentment; nourishment; understanding; steadiness.

शान्तिः स्वस्तिमती कान्तिर्नन्दिनी विघ्ननाशिनी

Śāntiḥ svastimatī kāntirnandinī vighnanāśinī

Peace; full of well-being; radiance; the gladdener; who destroys obstacles.

verse 95

तेजोवती त्रिनयना लोलाक्षी-कामरूपिणी ।

Tejovatī trinayanā lolākṣī-kāmarūpiṇī |

Full of splendour; three-eyed; whose darting eyes take on the shape of desire.

मालिनी हंसिनी माता मलयाचल-वासिनी

Mālinī haṃsinī mātā malayācala-vāsinī

Garlanded; the swan; the mother; who dwells on the Malaya range.

verse 96

सुमुखी नलिनी सुभ्रूः शोभना सुरनायिका ।

Sumukhī nalinī subhrūḥ śobhanā suranāyikā |

Of fair face; the lotus; of beautiful brows; the lovely; leader of the gods.

कालकण्ठी कान्तिमती क्षोभिणी सूक्ष्मरूपिणी

Kālakaṇṭhī kāntimatī kṣobhiṇī sūkṣmarūpiṇī

Consort of the dark-throated one; full of lustre; who stirs all things; of subtle form.

verse 97

वज्रेश्वरी वामदेवी वयोऽवस्था-विवर्जिता ।

Vajreśvarī vāmadevī vayo'vasthā-vivarjitā |

Vajreshvari; Vamadevi; free of the stages of age.

सिद्धेश्वरी सिद्धविद्या सिद्धमाता यशस्विनी

Siddheśvarī siddhavidyā siddhamātā yaśasvinī

Sovereign of the siddhas; the Siddha vidya; mother of the siddhas; full of renown.

verse 98

विशुद्धिचक्र-निलयाऽऽरक्तवर्णा त्रिलोचना ।

Viśuddhicakra-nilayā''raktavarṇā trilocanā |

Whose dwelling is the Vishuddhi wheel; of reddish hue; three-eyed.

खट्वाङ्गादि-प्रहरणा वदनैक-समन्विता

Khaṭvāṅgādi-praharaṇā vadanaika-samanvitā

Armed with the skull-staff and the rest; possessed of a single face.

verse 99

पायसान्नप्रिया त्वक्स्था पशुलोक-भयङ्करी ।

Pāyasānnapriyā tvaksthā paśuloka-bhayaṅkarī |

To whom milk-rice is dear; who abides in the skin; a terror to the world of bound beings.

अमृतादि-महाशक्ति-संवृता डाकिनीश्वरी

Amṛtādi-mahāśakti-saṃvṛtā ḍākinīśvarī

Surrounded by the great Shaktis beginning with Amrita; Dakinishvari, sovereign of the Dakini.

verse 100

अनाहताब्ज-निलया श्यामाभा वदनद्वया ।

Anāhatābja-nilayā śyāmābhā vadanadvayā |

Whose dwelling is the Anahata lotus; dark of hue; of two faces.

दंष्ट्रोज्ज्वलाऽक्ष-मालादि-धरा रुधिरसंस्थिता

Daṃṣṭrojjvalā'kṣa-mālādi-dharā rudhirasaṃsthitā

Bright with tusks; bearing the rosary and the rest; who abides in the blood.

verse 101

कालरात्र्यादि-शक्त्यौघ-वृता स्निग्धौदनप्रिया ।

Kālarātryādi-śaktyaugha-vṛtā snigdhaudanapriyā |

Encircled by the host of Shaktis beginning with Kalaratri; to whom rich cooked rice is dear.

महावीरेन्द्र-वरदा राकिण्यम्बा-स्वरूपिणी

Mahāvīrendra-varadā rākiṇyambā-svarūpiṇī

Giver of boons to the great heroes; whose own form is Mother Rakini.

verse 102

मणिपूराब्ज-निलया वदनत्रय-संयुता ।

Maṇipūrābja-nilayā vadanatraya-saṃyutā |

Whose dwelling is the Manipura lotus; possessed of three faces.

वज्रादिकायुधोपेता डामर्यादिभिरावृता

Vajrādikāyudhopetā ḍāmaryādibhirāvṛtā

Furnished with the thunderbolt and other weapons; surrounded by Damari and the rest.

verse 103

रक्तवर्णा मांसनिष्ठा गुडान्न-प्रीत-मानसा ।

Raktavarṇā māṃsaniṣṭhā guḍānna-prīta-mānasā |

Of red hue; who abides in the flesh; whose mind delights in rice cooked with jaggery.

स्वाधिष्ठानाम्बुज-गता चतुर्वक्त्र-मनोहरा ।

Svādhiṣṭhānāmbuja-gatā caturvaktra-manoharā |

Who has gone to the Svadhishthana lotus; enchanting with four faces.

शूलाद्यायुध-सम्पन्ना पीतवर्णाऽतिगर्विता

Śūlādyāyudha-sampannā pītavarṇā'tigarvitā

Provided with the trident and other weapons; of yellow hue; exceedingly proud.

verse 105

मेदोनिष्ठा मधुप्रीता बन्धिन्यादि-समन्विता ।

Medoniṣṭhā madhuprītā bandhinyādi-samanvitā |

Who abides in the marrow-fat; delighted by honey; attended by Bandhini and the rest.

दध्यन्नासक्त-हृदया काकिनी-रूप-धारिणी

Dadhyannāsakta-hṛdayā kākinī-rūpa-dhāriṇī

Whose heart is set on rice with curd; who bears the form of Kakini.

verse 106

मूलाधाराम्बुजारूढा पञ्च-वक्त्राऽस्थि-संस्थिता ।

Mūlādhārāmbujārūḍhā pañca-vaktrā'sthi-saṃsthitā |

Who has mounted the Muladhara lotus; of five faces; who abides in the bone.

अङ्कुशादि-प्रहरणा वरदादि-निषेविता

Aṅkuśādi-praharaṇā varadādi-niṣevitā

Armed with the goad and the rest; waited upon by Varada and the others.

verse 107

मुद्गौदनासक्त-चित्ता साकिन्यम्बा-स्वरूपिणी ।

Mudgaudanāsakta-cittā sākinyambā-svarūpiṇī |

Whose mind is set on rice cooked with mung; whose own form is Mother Sakini.

आज्ञा-चक्राब्ज-निलया शुक्लवर्णा षडानना

Ājñā-cakrābja-nilayā śuklavarṇā ṣaḍānanā

Whose dwelling is the Ajna lotus; of white hue; of six faces.

verse 108

मज्जासंस्था हंसवती-मुख्य-शक्ति-समन्विता ।

Majjāsaṃsthā haṃsavatī-mukhya-śakti-samanvitā |

Who abides in the marrow; attended by Hamsavati and the other chief Shaktis.

हरिद्रान्नैक-रसिका हाकिनी-रूप-धारिणी

Haridrānnaika-rasikā hākinī-rūpa-dhāriṇī

Who savours turmeric rice above all; who bears the form of Hakini.

verse 109

सहस्रदल-पद्मस्था सर्व-वर्णोप-शोभिता ।

Sahasradala-padmasthā sarva-varṇopa-śobhitā |

Who abides in the thousand-petalled lotus; adorned with every letter of the alphabet.

सर्वायुधधरा शुक्ल-संस्थिता सर्वतोमुखी

Sarvāyudhadharā śukla-saṃsthitā sarvatomukhī

Bearing every weapon; established in the seminal fluid; whose faces turn every way.

verse 110

सर्वौदन-प्रीतचित्ता याकिन्यम्बा-स्वरूपिणी ।

Sarvaudana-prītacittā yākinyambā-svarūpiṇī |

Whose mind is pleased by every kind of cooked food; whose own form is Mother Yakini.

स्वाहा स्वधाऽमतिर्मेधा श्रुतिः स्मृतिरनुत्तमा

Svāhā svadhā'matirmedhā śrutiḥ smṛtiranuttamā

Svaha; Svadha; who lies beyond the intellect; understanding; the heard scripture; the remembered; the unsurpassed.

verse 111

पुण्यकीर्तिः पुण्यलभ्या पुण्यश्रवण-कीर्तना ।

Puṇyakīrtiḥ puṇyalabhyā puṇyaśravaṇa-kīrtanā |

Of holy renown; won only by merit; whose hearing and whose telling are themselves holy.

पुलोमजार्चिता बन्ध-मोचनी बन्धुरालका

Pulomajārcitā bandha-mocanī bandhurālakā

Worshipped by Puloma's daughter; who looses every bond; of lovely curling hair.

verse 112

विमर्शरूपिणी विद्या वियदादि-जगत्प्रसूः ।

Vimarśarūpiṇī vidyā viyadādi-jagatprasūḥ |

Whose form is Vimarsha; knowledge itself; mother of the world that begins with ether.

सर्वव्याधि-प्रशमनी सर्वमृत्यु-निवारिणी

Sarvavyādhi-praśamanī sarvamṛtyu-nivāriṇī

Who quiets every disease; who wards off every death.

verse 113

अग्रगण्याऽचिन्त्यरूपा कलिकल्मष-नाशिनी ।

Agragaṇyā'cintyarūpā kalikalmaṣa-nāśinī |

First to be counted; of form beyond thought; who destroys the stain of the Kali age.

कात्यायनी कालहन्त्री कमलाक्ष-निषेविता

Kātyāyanī kālahantrī kamalākṣa-niṣevitā

Katyayani; slayer of Time; served by the lotus-eyed one.

verse 114

ताम्बूल-पूरित-मुखी दाडिमी-कुसुम-प्रभा ।

Tāmbūla-pūrita-mukhī dāḍimī-kusuma-prabhā |

Whose mouth is filled with betel; of the radiance of the pomegranate flower.

मृगाक्षी मोहिनी मुख्या मृडानी मित्ररूपिणी

Mṛgākṣī mohinī mukhyā mṛḍānī mitrarūpiṇī

Doe-eyed; the enchantress; the foremost; Mridani; whose form is the friend.

verse 115

नित्यतृप्ता भक्तनिधिर्नियन्त्री निखिलेश्वरी ।

Nityatṛptā bhaktanidhirniyantrī nikhileśvarī |

Ever content; the treasure of those who love her; the ruler; sovereign of all that is.

मैत्र्यादि-वासनालभ्या महाप्रलय-साक्षिणी

Maitryādi-vāsanālabhyā mahāpralaya-sākṣiṇī

Won by cultivating friendliness and the rest; the witness of the great dissolution.

verse 116

परा शक्तिः परा निष्ठा प्रज्ञानघन-रूपिणी ।

Parā śaktiḥ parā niṣṭhā prajñānaghana-rūpiṇī |

The supreme power; the supreme ground; whose form is consciousness massed whole.

माध्वीपानालसा मत्ता मातृका-वर्ण-रूपिणी

Mādhvīpānālasā mattā mātṛkā-varṇa-rūpiṇī

Languid with the honey-wine she has drunk; intoxicated; whose form is the letters of the alphabet.

verse 117

महाकैलास-निलया मृणाल-मृदु-दोर्लता ।

Mahākailāsa-nilayā mṛṇāla-mṛdu-dorlatā |

Dwelling on the great Kailasa; whose creeper-arms are soft as the lotus fibre.

महनीया दयामूर्तिर्महासाम्राज्य-शालिनी

Mahanīyā dayāmūrtirmahāsāmrājya-śālinī

Worthy of all honour; compassion given a body; possessed of a great empire.

verse 118

आत्मविद्या महाविद्या श्रीविद्या कामसेविता ।

Ātmavidyā mahāvidyā śrīvidyā kāmasevitā |

The knowledge of the Self; the great vidya; the Shri Vidya; served by Kama.

श्री-षोडशाक्षरी-विद्या त्रिकूटा कामकोटिका

Śrī-ṣoḍaśākṣarī-vidyā trikūṭā kāmakoṭikā

The Shri vidya of sixteen syllables; of the three clusters; Kamakotika.

verse 119

कटाक्ष-किङ्करी-भूत-कमला-कोटि-सेविता ।

Kaṭākṣa-kiṅkarī-bhūta-kamalā-koṭi-sevitā |

Served by ten million Lakshmis who became her handmaids at a glance from her.

शिरःस्थिता चन्द्रनिभा भालस्थेन्द्र-धनुःप्रभा

Śiraḥsthitā candranibhā bhālasthendra-dhanuḥprabhā

Who abides in the head, like the moon; on the brow, with the rainbow's radiance.

verse 120

हृदयस्था रविप्रख्या त्रिकोणान्तर-दीपिका ।

Hṛdayasthā raviprakhyā trikoṇāntara-dīpikā |

Who abides in the heart, like the sun; the lamp within the triangle.

दाक्षायणी दैत्यहन्त्री दक्षयज्ञ-विनाशिनी

Dākṣāyaṇī daityahantrī dakṣayajña-vināśinī

Daksha's daughter; slayer of the daityas; who wrecked Daksha's sacrifice.

verse 121

दरान्दोलित-दीर्घाक्षी दर-हासोज्ज्वलन्-मुखी ।

Darāndolita-dīrghākṣī dara-hāsojjvalan-mukhī |

Whose long eyes move with a slight tremor; whose face is bright with a faint smile.

गुरुमूर्तिर्गुणनिधिर्गोमाता गुहजन्मभूः

Gurumūrtirguṇanidhirgomātā guhajanmabhūḥ

The teacher embodied; a treasury of virtues; mother of cattle; the womb from which Guha was born.

verse 122

देवेशी दण्डनीतिस्था दहराकाश-रूपिणी ।

Deveśī daṇḍanītisthā daharākāśa-rūpiṇī |

Sovereign of the gods; who stands within the rule of justice; whose form is the small space within the heart.

प्रतिपन्मुख्य-राकान्त-तिथि-मण्डल-पूजिता

Pratipanmukhya-rākānta-tithi-maṇḍala-pūjitā

Worshipped in the whole circle of lunar days, from the first to the full moon.

verse 123

कलात्मिका कलानाथा काव्यालाप-विनोदिनी ।

Kalātmikā kalānāthā kāvyālāpa-vinodinī |

Whose self is the digits of the moon; mistress of those digits; who delights in the speaking of poetry.

सचामर-रमा-वाणी-सव्य-दक्षिण-सेविता

Sacāmara-ramā-vāṇī-savya-dakṣiṇa-sevitā

Attended on left and right by Rama and Vani, who wave the yak-tail fans.

verse 124

आदिशक्तिरमेयाऽऽत्मा परमा पावनाकृतिः ।

Ādiśaktirameyā''tmā paramā pāvanākṛtiḥ |

The primal power; the immeasurable Self; the supreme; whose very shape purifies.

अनेककोटि-ब्रह्माण्ड-जननी दिव्यविग्रहा

Anekakoṭi-brahmāṇḍa-jananī divyavigrahā

Mother of many tens of millions of world-eggs; of divine body.

verse 125

क्लींकारी केवला गुह्या कैवल्य-पददायिनी ।

Klīṃkārī kevalā guhyā kaivalya-padadāyinī |

She of the syllable Klim; the sole one; the secret; who gives the state of absolute aloneness.

त्रिपुरा त्रिजगद्वन्द्या त्रिमूर्तिस्त्रिदशेश्वरी

Tripurā trijagadvandyā trimūrtistridaśeśvarī

Tripura; saluted by the three worlds; the threefold form; sovereign of the gods.

verse 126

त्र्यक्षरी दिव्य-गन्धाढ्या सिन्दूर-तिलकाञ्चिता ।

Tryakṣarī divya-gandhāḍhyā sindūra-tilakāñcitā |

Of three syllables; rich with divine fragrance; marked with the sindura mark.

उमा शैलेन्द्रतनया गौरी गन्धर्व-सेविता

Umā śailendratanayā gaurī gandharva-sevitā

Uma; daughter of the lord of mountains; Gauri; served by the gandharvas.

verse 127

विश्वगर्भा स्वर्णगर्भाऽवरदा वागधीश्वरी ।

Viśvagarbhā svarṇagarbhā'varadā vāgadhīśvarī |

In whose womb is the universe; whose womb is gold; giver of boons; sovereign over speech.

ध्यानगम्याऽपरिच्छेद्या ज्ञानदा ज्ञानविग्रहा

Dhyānagamyā'paricchedyā jñānadā jñānavigrahā

Reached by meditation; who cannot be marked off; giver of knowledge; knowledge given a body.

verse 128

सर्ववेदान्त-संवेद्या सत्यानन्द-स्वरूपिणी ।

Sarvavedānta-saṃvedyā satyānanda-svarūpiṇī |

To be known through the whole of Vedanta; whose form is truth and bliss.

लोपामुद्रार्चिता लीला-कॢप्त-ब्रह्माण्ड-मण्डला

Lopāmudrārcitā līlā-kḷpta-brahmāṇḍa-maṇḍalā

Worshipped by Lopamudra; who fashioned the whole circle of world-eggs in play.

verse 129

अदृश्या दृश्यरहिता विज्ञात्री वेद्यवर्जिता ।

Adṛśyā dṛśyarahitā vijñātrī vedyavarjitā |

Unseen; who has nothing outside her to see; the knower; who has no object left to know.

योगिनी योगदा योग्या योगानन्दा युगन्धरा

Yoginī yogadā yogyā yogānandā yugandharā

The yogini; giver of yoga; fit for yoga; the bliss of yoga; who bears the ages.

verse 130

इच्छाशक्ति-ज्ञानशक्ति-क्रियाशक्ति-स्वरूपिणी ।

Icchāśakti-jñānaśakti-kriyāśakti-svarūpiṇī |

Whose form is the power of will, the power of knowing and the power of doing.

सर्वाधारा सुप्रतिष्ठा सदसद्रूप-धारिणी

Sarvādhārā supratiṣṭhā sadasadrūpa-dhāriṇī

The support of all; firmly established; who bears the form of both being and non-being.

verse 131

अष्टमूर्तिरजाजैत्री लोकयात्रा-विधायिनी ।

Aṣṭamūrtirajājaitrī lokayātrā-vidhāyinī |

Of eight forms; who conquers the unborn; who sets the traffic of the worlds in order.

एकाकिनी भूमरूपा निर्द्वैता द्वैतवर्जिता

Ekākinī bhūmarūpā nirdvaitā dvaitavarjitā

The solitary one; whose form is the plenum; without a second; free of all duality.

verse 132

अन्नदा वसुदा वृद्धा ब्रह्मात्मैक्य-स्वरूपिणी ।

Annadā vasudā vṛddhā brahmātmaikya-svarūpiṇī |

Giver of food; giver of wealth; the ancient; whose form is the oneness of Brahman and the Self.

बृहती ब्राह्मणी ब्राह्मी ब्रह्मानन्दा बलिप्रिया

Bṛhatī brāhmaṇī brāhmī brahmānandā balipriyā

The vast; the brahmani; Brahmi; the bliss of Brahman; to whom the offering is dear.

verse 133

भाषारूपा बृहत्सेना भावाभाव-विवर्जिता ।

Bhāṣārūpā bṛhatsenā bhāvābhāva-vivarjitā |

Whose form is language; of a vast army; free of both being and its absence.

सुखाराध्या शुभकरी शोभना सुलभा गतिः

Sukhārādhyā śubhakarī śobhanā sulabhā gatiḥ

Worshipped with ease; who works good; the lovely; the goal easily reached.

verse 134

राज-राजेश्वरी राज्य-दायिनी राज्य-वल्लभा ।

Rāja-rājeśvarī rājya-dāyinī rājya-vallabhā |

Rajarajeshvari; giver of kingdoms; to whom the kingdom is dear.

राजत्कृपा राजपीठ-निवेशित-निजाश्रिता

Rājatkṛpā rājapīṭha-niveśita-nijāśritā

Whose grace shines out; who seats those who take refuge in her on the royal throne.

verse 135

राज्यलक्ष्मीः कोशनाथा चतुरङ्ग-बलेश्वरी ।

Rājyalakṣmīḥ kośanāthā caturaṅga-baleśvarī |

The fortune of kingdoms; mistress of the treasury; sovereign over the fourfold army.

साम्राज्य-दायिनी सत्यसन्धा सागरमेखला

Sāmrājya-dāyinī satyasandhā sāgaramekhalā

Giver of empire; whose word is bound to truth; girdled by the ocean.

verse 136

दीक्षिता दैत्यशमनी सर्वलोक-वशङ्करी ।

Dīkṣitā daityaśamanī sarvaloka-vaśaṅkarī |

The initiated; who subdues the daityas; who brings every world under her sway.

सर्वार्थदात्री सावित्री सच्चिदानन्द-रूपिणी

Sarvārthadātrī sāvitrī saccidānanda-rūpiṇī

Giver of every good thing sought; Savitri; whose form is being, consciousness and bliss.

verse 137

देश-कालापरिच्छिन्ना सर्वगा सर्वमोहिनी ।

Deśa-kālāparicchinnā sarvagā sarvamohinī |

Not bounded by place or by time; who goes everywhere; who bewitches all.

सरस्वती शास्त्रमयी गुहाम्बा गुह्यरूपिणी

Sarasvatī śāstramayī guhāmbā guhyarūpiṇī

Sarasvati; made of the shastras; mother of Guha; whose form is the secret.

verse 138

सर्वोपाधि-विनिर्मुक्ता सदाशिव-पतिव्रता ।

Sarvopādhi-vinirmuktā sadāśiva-pativratā |

Wholly free of every limiting condition; faithful wife of Sadashiva.

सम्प्रदायेश्वरी साध्वी गुरुमण्डल-रूपिणी

Sampradāyeśvarī sādhvī gurumaṇḍala-rūpiṇī

Sovereign of the tradition; the good and true; whose form is the whole circle of teachers.

verse 139

कुलोत्तीर्णा भगाराध्या माया मधुमती मही ।

Kulottīrṇā bhagārādhyā māyā madhumatī mahī |

Who has passed beyond the Kula; worshipped through the bhaga; Maya; full of honey; the earth.

गणाम्बा गुह्यकाराध्या कोमलाङ्गी गुरुप्रिया

Gaṇāmbā guhyakārādhyā komalāṅgī gurupriyā

Mother of the hosts; worshipped by the guhyakas; of tender limbs; to whom the teacher is dear.

verse 140

स्वतन्त्रा सर्वतन्त्रेशी दक्षिणामूर्ति-रूपिणी ।

Svatantrā sarvatantreśī dakṣiṇāmūrti-rūpiṇī |

Owning herself; sovereign of every tantra; whose form is Dakshinamurti.

सनकादि-समाराध्या शिवज्ञान-प्रदायिनी

Sanakādi-samārādhyā śivajñāna-pradāyinī

Worshipped by Sanaka and the rest; who bestows the knowledge of Shiva.

चित्कलाऽऽनन्द-कलिका प्रेमरूपा प्रियङ्करी ।

Citkalā''nanda-kalikā premarūpā priyaṅkarī |

A digit of consciousness; the bud of bliss; whose form is love; who works what is dear.

नामपारायण-प्रीता नन्दिविद्या नटेश्वरी

Nāmapārāyaṇa-prītā nandividyā naṭeśvarī

Pleased by the recitation of her names; the Nandi vidya; sovereign of the dancer.

verse 142

मिथ्या-जगदधिष्ठाना मुक्तिदा मुक्तिरूपिणी ।

Mithyā-jagadadhiṣṭhānā muktidā muktirūpiṇī |

The ground on which the false world rests; giver of release; release itself given form.

लास्यप्रिया लयकरी लज्जा रम्भादिवन्दिता

Lāsyapriyā layakarī lajjā rambhādivanditā

To whom the gentle dance is dear; who works the dissolution; modesty itself; saluted by Rambha and the other nymphs.

verse 143

भवदाव-सुधावृष्टिः पापारण्य-दवानला ।

Bhavadāva-sudhāvṛṣṭiḥ pāpāraṇya-davānalā |

A rain of nectar on the forest fire of worldly life; the wildfire that burns the forest of sin.

दौर्भाग्य-तूलवातूला जराध्वान्त-रविप्रभा

Daurbhāgya-tūlavātūlā jarādhvānta-raviprabhā

The gale that scatters the cotton-fluff of misfortune; the sun's brightness on the dark of old age.

verse 144

भाग्याब्धि-चन्द्रिका भक्त-चित्तकेकि-घनाघना ।

Bhāgyābdhi-candrikā bhakta-cittakeki-ghanāghanā |

Moonlight on the sea of good fortune; the rain-cloud for the peacock that is her devotee's heart.

रोगपर्वत-दम्भोलिर्मृत्युदारु-कुठारिका

Rogaparvata-dambholirmṛtyudāru-kuṭhārikā

The thunderbolt against the mountain of disease; the axe that fells the tree of death.

verse 145

महेश्वरी महाकाली महाग्रासा महाशना ।

Maheśvarī mahākālī mahāgrāsā mahāśanā |

Maheshvari; Mahakali; the great devourer; the great eater.

अपर्णा चण्डिका चण्डमुण्डासुर-निषूदिनी

Aparṇā caṇḍikā caṇḍamuṇḍāsura-niṣūdinī

Aparna, who took not even a leaf; Chandika; slayer of the asuras Chanda and Munda.

verse 146

क्षराक्षरात्मिका सर्व-लोकेशी विश्वधारिणी ।

Kṣarākṣarātmikā sarva-lokeśī viśvadhāriṇī |

Whose self is the perishable and the imperishable; sovereign of every world; who upholds the universe.

त्रिवर्गदात्री सुभगा त्र्यम्बका त्रिगुणात्मिका

Trivargadātrī subhagā tryambakā triguṇātmikā

Giver of the three human ends; the fortunate; three-eyed; whose self is the three strands.

verse 147

स्वर्गापवर्गदा शुद्धा जपापुष्प-निभाकृतिः ।

Svargāpavargadā śuddhā japāpuṣpa-nibhākṛtiḥ |

Giver of heaven and of release alike; the pure; whose form is like the hibiscus flower.

ओजोवती द्युतिधरा यज्ञरूपा प्रियव्रता

Ojovatī dyutidharā yajñarūpā priyavratā

Full of vigour; bearer of light; whose form is the sacrifice; to whom vows are dear.

दुराराध्या दुराधर्षा पाटली-कुसुम-प्रिया ।

Durārādhyā durādharṣā pāṭalī-kusuma-priyā |

Hard to worship; hard to assail; to whom the trumpet-flower is dear.

महती मेरुनिलया मन्दार-कुसुम-प्रिया

Mahatī merunilayā mandāra-kusuma-priyā

The great; whose dwelling is Meru; to whom the mandara blossom is dear.

वीराराध्या विराड्रूपा विरजा विश्वतोमुखी ।

Vīrārādhyā virāḍrūpā virajā viśvatomukhī |

Worshipped by the heroes; whose form is the cosmic Person; free of passion; whose faces turn every way.

प्रत्यग्रूपा पराकाशा प्राणदा प्राणरूपिणी

Pratyagrūpā parākāśā prāṇadā prāṇarūpiṇī

Whose form is turned inward; the supreme space; giver of the life-breath; the life-breath itself.

मार्ताण्ड-भैरवाराध्या मन्त्रिणीन्यस्त-राज्यधूः ।

Mārtāṇḍa-bhairavārādhyā mantriṇīnyasta-rājyadhūḥ |

त्रिपुरेशी जयत्सेना निस्त्रैगुण्या परापरा

Sovereign of Tripura; whose army conquers; beyond the three strands; both far and near.

सत्य-ज्ञानानन्द-रूपा सामरस्य-परायणा ।

Whose form is truth, knowledge and bliss; wholly given to the balance of opposites.

कपर्दिनी कलामाला कामधुक् कामरूपिणी

कलानिधिः काव्यकला रसज्ञा रसशेवधिः ।

Kalānidhiḥ kāvyakalā rasajñā rasaśevadhiḥ |

A treasury of the arts; the art of poetry; who knows savour; the hoard of savour itself.

पुष्टा पुरातना पूज्या पुष्करा पुष्करेक्षणा

Puṣṭā purātanā pūjyā puṣkarā puṣkarekṣaṇā

The well-nourished; the ancient; worthy of worship; the lotus; lotus-eyed.

verse 153

परंज्योतिः परंधाम परमाणुः परात्परा ।

Paraṃjyotiḥ paraṃdhāma paramāṇuḥ parātparā |

The highest light; the highest abode; the ultimate atom; higher than the highest.

पाशहस्ता पाशहन्त्री परमन्त्र-विभेदिनी

Pāśahastā pāśahantrī paramantra-vibhedinī

With the noose in her hand; who cuts the noose away; who breaks the mantras of another.

verse 154

मूर्ताऽमूर्ताऽनित्यतृप्ता मुनिमानस-हंसिका ।

With form and without; ever content; the swan on the lake of the sages' minds.

Satyavratā satyarūpā sarvāntaryāminī satī

Whose vow is truth; whose form is truth; the inner ruler of all; Sati.

ब्रह्माणी ब्रह्मजननी बहुरूपा बुधार्चिता ।

Brahmāṇī brahmajananī bahurūpā budhārcitā |

Brahmani; mother of Brahma; of many forms; worshipped by the wise.

प्रसवित्री प्रचण्डाऽऽज्ञा प्रतिष्ठा प्रकटाकृतिः

Prasavitrī pracaṇḍā''jñā pratiṣṭhā prakaṭākṛtiḥ

The bringer forth; whose command is fierce; the firm ground; of manifest shape.

प्राणेश्वरी प्राणदात्री पञ्चाशत्पीठ-रूपिणी ।

Prāṇeśvarī prāṇadātrī pañcāśatpīṭha-rūpiṇī |

Sovereign of the life-breath; giver of the life-breath; whose form is the fifty seats.

विशृङ्खला विविक्तस्था वीरमाता वियत्प्रसूः

Viśṛṅkhalā viviktasthā vīramātā viyatprasūḥ

Free of every chain; who dwells apart; mother of heroes; who brought forth the sky.

verse 157

मुकुन्दा मुक्तिनिलया मूलविग्रह-रूपिणी ।

Mukundā muktinilayā mūlavigraha-rūpiṇī |

Mukunda; whose dwelling is release; whose form is the root image.

भावज्ञा भवरोगघ्नी भवचक्र-प्रवर्तिनी

Bhāvajñā bhavarogaghnī bhavacakra-pravartinī

Who knows what is felt; who cures the sickness of worldly life; who sets the wheel of becoming turning.

छन्दःसारा शास्त्रसारा मन्त्रसारा तलोदरी ।

Chandaḥsārā śāstrasārā mantrasārā talodarī |

The essence of the metres; the essence of the shastras; the essence of the mantras; of slender belly.

उदारकीर्तिरुद्दामवैभवा वर्णरूपिणी

Udārakīrtiruddāmavaibhavā varṇarūpiṇī

Of noble renown; of unbounded splendour; whose form is the letters.

verse 159

जन्ममृत्यु-जरातप्त-जनविश्रान्ति-दायिनी ।

Janmamṛtyu-jarātapta-janaviśrānti-dāyinī |

Who gives rest to people scorched by birth, death and old age.

सर्वोपनिष-दुद्-घुष्टा शान्त्यतीत-कलात्मिका

Sarvopaniṣa-dud-ghuṣṭā śāntyatīta-kalātmikā

Proclaimed aloud by all the Upanishads; whose self is the digit beyond even peace.

गम्भीरा गगनान्तस्था गर्विता गानलोलुपा ।

Gambhīrā gaganāntasthā garvitā gānalolupā |

The deep; who abides within the sky; the proud; eager for song.

कल्पना-रहिता काष्ठाऽकान्ता कान्तार्ध-विग्रहा

Kalpanā-rahitā kāṣṭhā'kāntā kāntārdha-vigrahā

Free of all imagining; the farthest point; the beloved; who is half her lover's body.

verse 161

कार्यकारण-निर्मुक्ता कामकेलि-तरङ्गिता ।

Kāryakāraṇa-nirmuktā kāmakeli-taraṅgitā |

Loosed from cause and effect alike; rippling with the play of love.

कनत्कनकता-टङ्का लीला-विग्रह-धारिणी

Kanatkanakatā-ṭaṅkā līlā-vigraha-dhāriṇī

Whose ear-rings are of gleaming gold; who wears a body assumed in play.

verse 162

अजा क्षयविनिर्मुक्ता मुग्धा क्षिप्र-प्रसादिनी ।

Ajā kṣayavinirmuktā mugdhā kṣipra-prasādinī |

The unborn; wholly free of decay; the guileless; who is pleased in an instant.

अन्तर्मुख-समाराध्या बहिर्मुख-सुदुर्लभा

Antarmukha-samārādhyā bahirmukha-sudurlabhā

Worshipped well by those who turn inward; very hard for the outward-turned to reach.

त्रयी त्रिवर्गनिलया त्रिस्था त्रिपुरमालिनी ।

Trayī trivarganilayā tristhā tripuramālinī |

The threefold Veda; whose dwelling is the three ends; who stands in three; garlanded with the three cities.

निरामया निरालम्बा स्वात्मारामा सुधासृतिः

Nirāmayā nirālambā svātmārāmā sudhāsṛtiḥ

Free of sickness; leaning on nothing; who takes her delight in her own Self; a stream of nectar.

verse 164

संसारपङ्क-निर्मग्न-समुद्धरण-पण्डिता ।

Saṃsārapaṅka-nirmagna-samuddharaṇa-paṇḍitā |

Skilled in lifting out those sunk in the mire of worldly life.

यज्ञप्रिया यज्ञकर्त्री यजमान-स्वरूपिणी

Yajñapriyā yajñakartrī yajamāna-svarūpiṇī

To whom the sacrifice is dear; who performs the sacrifice; whose form is the sacrificer himself.

verse 165

धर्माधारा धनाध्यक्षा धनधान्य-विवर्धिनी ।

Dharmādhārā dhanādhyakṣā dhanadhānya-vivardhinī |

The ground of dharma; overseer of wealth; who makes wealth and grain increase.

विप्रप्रिया विप्ररूपा विश्वभ्रमण-कारिणी

Viprapriyā viprarūpā viśvabhramaṇa-kāriṇī

To whom the brahmana is dear; whose form is the brahmana; who sets the universe wheeling.

verse 166

विश्वग्रासा विद्रुमाभा वैष्णवी विष्णुरूपिणी ।

Viśvagrāsā vidrumābhā vaiṣṇavī viṣṇurūpiṇī |

Who devours the universe; of coral radiance; Vaishnavi; whose form is Vishnu.

अयोनिर्योनिनिलया कूटस्था कुलरूपिणी

Ayoniryoninilayā kūṭasthā kularūpiṇī

Born of no womb; whose dwelling is the womb; who stands unchanging at the summit; whose form is the Kula.

वीरगोष्ठीप्रिया वीरा नैष्कर्म्या नादरूपिणी ।

Vīragoṣṭhīpriyā vīrā naiṣkarmyā nādarūpiṇī |

To whom the company of heroes is dear; the heroine; free of all action; whose form is sound.

विज्ञानकलना कल्या विदग्धा बैन्दवासना

Vijñānakalanā kalyā vidagdhā baindavāsanā

The stirring of knowledge; the auspicious; the accomplished; whose seat is the bindu.

तत्त्वाधिका तत्त्वमयी तत्त्वमर्थ-स्वरूपिणी ।

Tattvādhikā tattvamayī tattvamartha-svarūpiṇī |

Higher than the tattvas; made of the tattvas; whose form is the meaning of the words That and Thou.

सामगानप्रिया सौम्या सदाशिव-कुटुम्बिनी

Sāmagānapriyā saumyā sadāśiva-kuṭumbinī

To whom the singing of the Saman is dear; the gentle; the household consort of Sadashiva.

सव्यापसव्य-मार्गस्था सर्वापद्विनिवारिणी ।

Savyāpasavya-mārgasthā sarvāpadvinivāriṇī |

Who stands on both the left-hand and the right-hand paths; who wards off every calamity.

स्वस्था स्वभावमधुरा धीरा धीरसमर्चिता

Svasthā svabhāvamadhurā dhīrā dhīrasamarcitā

Settled in herself; sweet by her very nature; the steadfast; worshipped by the steadfast.

चैतन्यार्घ्य-समाराध्या चैतन्य-कुसुमप्रिया ।

Caitanyārghya-samārādhyā caitanya-kusumapriyā |

Worshipped with consciousness itself as the offering; to whom consciousness is the flower.

सदोदिता सदातुष्टा तरुणादित्य-पाटला

Sadoditā sadātuṣṭā taruṇāditya-pāṭalā

Ever risen; ever content; of the pale red of the young sun.

verse 171

दक्षिणा-दक्षिणाराध्या दरस्मेर-मुखाम्बुजा ।

Dakṣiṇā-dakṣiṇārādhyā darasmera-mukhāmbujā |

Dakshina; worshipped by Dakshina; whose lotus face carries a faint smile.

कौलिनी-केवलाऽनर्घ्य-कैवल्य-पददायिनी

Kaulinī-kevalā'narghya-kaivalya-padadāyinī

The Kaulini; the sole one; beyond all price; who gives the state of absolute aloneness.

स्तोत्रप्रिया स्तुतिमती श्रुति-संस्तुत-वैभवा ।

Stotrapriyā stutimatī śruti-saṃstuta-vaibhavā |

To whom praise is dear; full of praise; whose greatness the Shrutis themselves extol.

मनस्विनी मानवती महेशी मङ्गलाकृतिः

Manasvinī mānavatī maheśī maṅgalākṛtiḥ

Of a strong mind; worthy of honour; Maheshi; whose very shape is auspicious.

विश्वमाता जगद्धात्री विशालाक्षी विरागिणी ।

Viśvamātā jagaddhātrī viśālākṣī virāgiṇī |

Mother of the universe; nurse of the world; wide-eyed; free of all passion.

प्रगल्भा परमोदारा परामोदा मनोमयी

Pragalbhā paramodārā parāmodā manomayī

The bold; supremely generous; of supreme delight; made of mind.

verse 174

व्योमकेशी विमानस्था वज्रिणी वामकेश्वरी ।

Vyomakeśī vimānasthā vajriṇī vāmakeśvarī |

Whose hair is the sky; seated in the celestial car; bearing the thunderbolt; sovereign of the Vamakeshvara.

पञ्चयज्ञ-प्रिया पञ्च-प्रेत-मञ्चाधिशायिनी

Pañcayajña-priyā pañca-preta-mañcādhiśāyinī

To whom the five sacrifices are dear; who reclines on the couch borne by the five corpses.

पञ्चमी पञ्चभूतेशी पञ्च-संख्योपचारिणी ।

Pañcamī pañcabhūteśī pañca-saṃkhyopacāriṇī |

The fifth; mistress of the five elements; worshipped with the five-fold service.

शाश्वती शाश्वतैश्वर्या शर्मदा शम्भुमोहिनी

Daughter of the mountain that bears the earth; the blessed; possessed of dharma; who makes dharma grow.

लोकातीता गुणातीता सर्वातीता शमात्मिका

Lokātītā guṇātītā sarvātītā śamātmikā

Beyond the worlds; beyond the three strands; beyond everything; whose self is stillness.

verse 177

बन्धूक-कुसुमप्रख्या बाला लीलाविनोदिनी ।

Bandhūka-kusumaprakhyā bālā līlāvinodinī |

Like the bandhuka blossom; Bala, the girl; who takes her pleasure in play.

सुमङ्गली सुखकरी सुवेषाढ्या सुवासिनी

Sumaṅgalī sukhakarī suveṣāḍhyā suvāsinī

The auspicious wife; who brings ease; richly attired; the married woman.

verse 178

सुवासिन्यर्चन-प्रीताऽऽशोभना शुद्धमानसा ।

Suvāsinyarcana-prītā''śobhanā śuddhamānasā |

Pleased when married women are honoured; the radiant; of pure mind.

बिन्दु-तर्पण-सन्तुष्टा पूर्वजा त्रिपुराम्बिका

Bindu-tarpaṇa-santuṣṭā pūrvajā tripurāmbikā

Contented by the offering made at the bindu; born before all; Tripurambika.

verse 179

दशमुद्रा-समाराध्या त्रिपुराश्री-वशङ्करी ।

Daśamudrā-samārādhyā tripurāśrī-vaśaṅkarī |

Worshipped with the ten seals; who brings the glory of Tripura under her sway.

ज्ञानमुद्रा ज्ञानगम्या ज्ञानज्ञेय-स्वरूपिणी

Jñānamudrā jñānagamyā jñānajñeya-svarūpiṇī

The seal of knowledge; reached by knowledge; whose form is both the knowing and the known.

योनिमुद्रा त्रिखण्डेशी त्रिगुणाम्बा त्रिकोणगा ।

Yonimudrā trikhaṇḍeśī triguṇāmbā trikoṇagā |

The yoni seal; mistress of the three sections; mother of the three strands; who moves within the triangle.

अनघाऽद्भुत-चारित्रा वाञ्छितार्थ-प्रदायिनी

Anaghā'dbhuta-cāritrā vāñchitārtha-pradāyinī

Without fault; whose deeds are wonderful; who gives whatever is wished for.

Compassion without pretext, given a body; the lamp in the darkness of ignorance.

आबाल-गोप-विदिता सर्वानुल्लङ्घ्य-शासना ।

Ābāla-gopa-viditā sarvānullaṅghya-śāsanā |

Known even to children and cowherds; whose command none can overstep.

श्रीचक्रराज-निलया श्रीमत्-त्रिपुरसुन्दरी

Śrīcakrarāja-nilayā śrīmat-tripurasundarī

Whose dwelling is the royal Shri Chakra; the glorious Tripurasundari.
