रत्नसानुशरासनं रजताद्रिशृङ्गनिकेतनं शिञ्जिनीकृतपन्नगेश्वरमच्युतानलसायकम्।
Ratna-sānu-śarāsanaṃ rajatādri-śṛṅga-niketanaṃ śiñjinī-kṛta-pannageśvara-acyutānala-sāyakam
Whose bow is the jeweled mountain peak, whose abode is the summit of the silver mountain (Kailasa), whose bowstring is made of the king of serpents, whose arrow is the unfailing fire,
क्षिप्रदग्धपुरत्रयं त्रिदशालयैरभिवन्दितं चन्द्रशेखरमाश्रये मम किं करिष्यति वै यमः॥1॥
Kṣipra-dagdha-pura-trayaṃ tridaśālayair-abhivanditaṃ candraśekharaṃ āśraye mama kiṃ kariṣyati vai yamaḥ
who swiftly burned the triple city, who is honored by the dwellers of heaven -- I take refuge in Chandrashekhara; what indeed can Death do to me?

पञ्चपादपुष्पगन्धिपदाम्बुजद्वयशोभितं भाललोचनजातपावकदग्धमन्मथविग्रहम्।
Pañca-pādapa-puṣpa-gandhi-padāmbuja-dvaya-śobhitaṃ bhāla-locana-jāta-pāvaka-dagdha-manmatha-vigraham
Whose pair of lotus feet is adorned with the fragrance of flowers from the five celestial trees, whose form burned Manmatha (the love-god) with the fire born from the eye on his forehead,
भस्मदिग्धकलेवरं भवनाशनं भवमव्ययं चन्द्रशेखरमाश्रये मम किं करिष्यति वै यमः॥2॥
Bhasma-digdha-kalevaraṃ bhava-nāśanaṃ bhavam-avyayaṃ candraśekharaṃ āśraye mama kiṃ kariṣyati vai yamaḥ
whose body is smeared with ash, destroyer of worldly existence, the imperishable one -- I take refuge in Chandrashekhara; what indeed can Death do to me?

मत्तवारणमुख्यचर्मकृतोत्तरीयमनोहरं पङ्कजासनपद्मलोचनपूजिताङ्घ्रिसरोरुहम्।
Matta-vāraṇa-mukhya-carma-kṛtottarīya-manoharam paṅkajāsana-padma-locana-pūjitāṅghri-saroruham
Whose charming upper garment is made from the hide of a great rutting elephant, whose lotus-feet are worshipped by the lotus-seated, lotus-eyed one (Brahma),
देवसिन्धुतरङ्गशीकरसिक्तशीतजटाधरं चन्द्रशेखरमाश्रये मम किं करिष्यति वै यमः॥3॥
Deva-sindhu-taraṅga-śīkara-sikta-śīta-jaṭādharam candraśekharaṃ āśraye mama kiṃ kariṣyati vai yamaḥ
who bears cool matted hair sprinkled by the spray of the waves of the celestial river (Ganga) -- I take refuge in Chandrashekhara; what indeed can Death do to me?

कुण्डलीकृतकुण्डलीश्वरकुण्डलं वृषवाहनं नारदादिमुनीश्वरस्तुतवैभवं भुवनेश्वरम्।
Kuṇḍalī-kṛta-kuṇḍalīśvara-kuṇḍalaṃ vṛṣa-vāhanaṃ nāradādi-munīśvara-stuta-vaibhavaṃ bhuvaneśvaram
Whose earring is the coiled king of serpents, who rides the bull, whose majesty is praised by Narada and the great sages, the lord of all worlds,
अन्धकान्तकमाश्रितामरपादपं शमनान्तकं चन्द्रशेखरमाश्रये मम किं करिष्यति वै यमः॥4॥
Andhakāntakam āśritāmara-pādapaṃ śamanāntakaṃ candraśekharaṃ āśraye mama kiṃ kariṣyati vai yamaḥ
the ender of Andhaka, the wish-fulfilling tree for those who take refuge, the very ender of Death (Yama) himself -- I take refuge in Chandrashekhara; what indeed can Death do to me?

यक्षराजसखं भगाक्षहरं भुजङ्गविभूषणं शैलराजसुतापरिष्कृतचारुवामकलेवरम्।
Yakṣa-rāja-sakhaṃ bhagākṣa-haraṃ bhujaṅga-vibhūṣaṇaṃ śaila-rāja-sutā-pariṣkṛta-cāru-vāma-kalevaram
Friend of the king of Yakshas (Kubera), the one who took the eyes of Bhaga, adorned with serpents, whose beautiful left half of the body is graced by the mountain-king's daughter (the Ardhanarishvara form),
क्ष्वेडनीलगलं परश्वधधारिणं मृगधारिणं चन्द्रशेखरमाश्रये मम किं करिष्यति वै यमः॥5॥
Kṣveḍa-nīla-galaṃ paraśvadha-dhāriṇaṃ mṛga-dhāriṇaṃ candraśekharaṃ āśraye mama kiṃ kariṣyati vai yamaḥ
whose throat is dark-blue from poison, who bears the axe, who bears the deer -- I take refuge in Chandrashekhara; what indeed can Death do to me?

भेषजं भवरोगिणामखिलापदामपहारिणं दक्षयज्ञविनाशनं त्रिगुणात्मकं त्रिविलोचनम्।
Bheṣajaṃ bhava-rogiṇām-akhilāpadām-apahāriṇaṃ dakṣa-yajña-vināśanaṃ tri-guṇātmakaṃ tri-vilocanam
The medicine for those sick with worldly existence, remover of all calamities, destroyer of Daksha's sacrifice, embodiment of the three gunas, the three-eyed one,
भुक्तिमुक्तिफलप्रदं सकलाघसङ्घनिबर्हणं चन्द्रशेखरमाश्रये मम किं करिष्यति वै यमः॥6॥
Bhukti-mukti-phala-pradaṃ sakalāgha-saṅgha-nibarhaṇaṃ candraśekharaṃ āśraye mama kiṃ kariṣyati vai yamaḥ
the giver of both enjoyment and liberation as fruit, the destroyer of the whole mass of sins -- I take refuge in Chandrashekhara; what indeed can Death do to me?

भक्तवत्सलमर्चितं निधिमक्षयं हरिदम्बरं सर्वभूतपतिं परात्परमप्रमेयमनामयम्।
Bhakta-vatsalam-arcitaṃ nidhim-akṣayaṃ harid-ambaraṃ sarva-bhūta-patiṃ parāt-param-aprameyam-anāmayam
Affectionate toward devotees, worshipped, the inexhaustible treasure, clad in the tawny directions, lord of all beings, supreme beyond the supreme, immeasurable, untouched by disease,
सोमवारिदभूहुताशनसोमपानिलखाकृतिं चन्द्रशेखरमाश्रये मम किं करिष्यति वै यमः॥7॥
Soma-vārida-bhū-hutāśana-soma-pānila-khākṛtiṃ candraśekharaṃ āśraye mama kiṃ kariṣyati vai yamaḥ
whose very form is made of the moon, water, earth, fire, air, and ether -- I take refuge in Chandrashekhara; what indeed can Death do to me?

विश्वसृष्टिविधायिनं पुनरेव पालनतत्परं संहरन्तमथ प्रपञ्चमशेषलोकनिवासिनम्।
Viśva-sṛṣṭi-vidhāyinaṃ punar-eva pālana-tatparaṃ saṃharantam-atha prapañcam-aśeṣa-loka-nivāsinam
The creator of the universe, then again intent on its preservation, and finally the one who dissolves the manifest world, the dweller in every world without exception,
क्रीडयन्तमहर्निशं गणनाथयूथसमाकुलं चन्द्रशेखरमाश्रये मम किं करिष्यति वै यमः॥8॥
Krīḍayantam-ahar-niśaṃ gaṇa-nātha-yūtha-samākulaṃ candraśekharaṃ āśraye mama kiṃ kariṣyati vai yamaḥ
who sports day and night, surrounded by the crowding troop of Ganas (his attendants) -- I take refuge in Chandrashekhara; what indeed can Death do to me?

मृत्युभीतमृकण्डसूनुकृतस्तवं शिवसन्निधौ यत्र कुत्र च यः पठेन्न हि तस्य मृत्युभयं भवेत्।
Mṛtyu-bhīta-mṛkaṇḍa-sūnu-kṛta-stavaṃ śiva-sannidhau yatra kutra ca yaḥ paṭhen na hi tasya mṛtyu-bhayaṃ bhavet
This hymn, composed in the presence of Shiva by Markandeya, the son of Mrikandu, who was afraid of death -- whoever recites it anywhere at all will never have fear of death,
दीर्घमायुररोगितामखिलार्थसम्पदमादरात् चन्द्रशेखर एव तस्य ददाति मुक्तिमयत्नतः॥
Dīrgham-āyur-arogitām-akhilārtha-sampadam-ādarāt candraśekhara eva tasya dadāti muktim-ayatnataḥ
long life, freedom from disease, and every kind of wealth -- Chandrashekhara himself graciously grants him these, and liberation too, without effort.
