verse 1

विश्वं विष्णुर्वषट्कारो भूतभव्यभवत्प्रभुः।

Viśvaṃ Viṣṇur-vaṣaṭ-kāro bhūta-bhavya-bhavatprabhuḥ

The universe itself; Vishnu, who pervades all; the Vashat call of the sacrifice; lord of what has been, what will be and what is.

भूतकृद्भूतभृद्भावो भूतात्मा भूतभावनः॥1॥

Bhūtakṛd-bhūtabhṛd-bhāvo bhūtātmā bhūtabhāvanaḥ

Maker of all beings; sustainer of beings; existence itself; the Self within all beings; who brings all beings into being.

verse 2

पूतात्मा परमात्मा च मुक्तानां परमा गतिः।

Pūtātmā paramātmā ca muktānāṃ paramā gatiḥ

Of pure being; the supreme Self; and the highest goal of those who are liberated.

अव्ययः पुरुषः साक्षी क्षेत्रज्ञोऽक्षर एव च॥2॥

Avyayaḥ puruṣaḥ sākṣī kṣetrajño'kṣara eva ca

Undecaying; the Person; the witness; knower of the field; and the imperishable.

verse 3

योगो योगविदां नेता प्रधानपुरुषेश्वरः।

Yogo yogavidāṃ netā pradhāna-puruṣeśvaraḥ

Yoga itself; leader of those who know yoga; lord of primal matter and of the Person.

नारसिंहवपुः श्रीमान् केशवः पुरुषोत्तमः॥3॥

Nārasiṃha-vapuḥ śrīmān Keśavaḥ Puruṣottamaḥ

Whose body is Narasimha; possessed of Shri; Keshava; highest among persons.

verse 4

सर्वः शर्वः शिवः स्थाणुर्भूतादिर्निधिरव्ययः।

Sarvaḥ śarvaḥ śivaḥ sthāṇur bhūtādir nidhir avyayaḥ

All that is; the destroyer; the auspicious; the fixed pillar; origin of all beings; the undecaying treasure.

सम्भवो भावनो भर्ता प्रभवः प्रभुरीश्वरः॥4॥

Sambhavo bhāvano bhartā prabhavaḥ prabhur īśvaraḥ

Self-arisen; giver of all; the sustainer; the source; the lord; the sovereign.

verse 5

स्वयम्भूः शम्भुरादित्यः पुष्कराक्षो महास्वनः।

Svayambhūḥ śambhur ādityaḥ puṣkarākṣo mahāsvanaḥ

Self-existent; bringer of good; the sun; lotus-eyed; of the great sound.

अनादिनिधनो धाता विधाता धातुरुत्तमः॥5॥

Anādi-nidhano dhātā vidhātā dhātur uttamaḥ

Without beginning or end; the supporter; the ordainer; best of all that upholds.

verse 6

अप्रमेयो हृषीकेशः पद्मनाभोऽमरप्रभुः।

Aprameyo hṛṣīkeśaḥ padmanābho'mara-prabhuḥ

Immeasurable; Hrishikesha, lord of the senses; lotus-navelled; lord of the immortals.

विश्वकर्मा मनुस्त्वष्टा स्थविष्ठः स्थविरो ध्रुवः॥6॥

Viśvakarmā manus-tvaṣṭā sthaviṣṭhaḥ sthaviro dhruvaḥ

Maker of all; the thinker; the shaper; the most vast; the ancient; the fixed.

verse 7

अग्राह्यः शाश्वतः कृष्णो लोहिताक्षः प्रतर्दनः।

Agrāhyaḥ śāśvataḥ kṛṣṇo lohitākṣaḥ pratardanaḥ

Not to be grasped; the everlasting; Krishna; red-eyed; the destroyer.

प्रभूतस्त्रिककुब्धाम पवित्रं मङ्गलं परम्॥7॥

Prabhūtas trikakub-dhāma pavitraṃ maṅgalaṃ param

Abundant; whose abode is the three quarters; the purifier; the supreme auspiciousness.

verse 8

ईशानः प्राणदः प्राणो ज्येष्ठः श्रेष्ठः प्रजापतिः।

Īśānaḥ prāṇadaḥ prāṇo jyeṣṭhaḥ śreṣṭhaḥ prajāpatiḥ

The ruler; giver of life; life-breath itself; the eldest; the best; lord of creatures.

हिरण्यगर्भो भूगर्भो माधवो मधुसूदनः॥8॥

Hiraṇyagarbho bhūgarbho Mādhavo Madhusūdanaḥ

Golden-wombed; in whose womb the earth lies; Madhava; slayer of Madhu.

verse 9

ईश्वरो विक्रमी धन्वी मेधावी विक्रमः क्रमः।

Īśvaro vikramī dhanvī medhāvī vikramaḥ kramaḥ

The sovereign; the valorous; the archer; of great understanding; the mighty stride; the ordered step.

अनुत्तमो दुराधर्षः कृतज्ञः कृतिरात्मवान्॥9॥

Anuttamo durādharṣaḥ kṛtajñaḥ kṛtir ātmavān

Unsurpassed; hard to assail; who knows what has been done for Him; the deed itself; possessed of Self.

verse 10

सुरेशः शरणं शर्म विश्वरेताः प्रजाभवः।

Sureśaḥ śaraṇaṃ śarma viśvaretāḥ prajābhavaḥ

Lord of the gods; the refuge; the shelter; seed of the universe; source of creatures' birth.

अहः संवत्सरो व्यालः प्रत्ययः सर्वदर्शनः॥10॥

Ahaḥ saṃvatsaro vyālaḥ pratyayaḥ sarva-darśanaḥ

The day; the year; the serpent; the ground of certainty; who sees all things.

verse 11

अजः सर्वेश्वरः सिद्धः सिद्धिः सर्वादिरच्युतः।

Ajaḥ sarveśvaraḥ siddhaḥ siddhiḥ sarvādir acyutaḥ

The unborn; lord of all; the accomplished; attainment itself; origin of all; Achyuta, who never falls away.

वृषाकपिरमेयात्मा सर्वयोगविनिःसृतः॥11॥

Vṛṣākapir ameyātmā sarva-yoga-viniḥsṛtaḥ

Vrishakapi, dharma and the sun in one; whose Self cannot be measured; who stands free of every yoga.

verse 12

वसुर्वसुमनाः सत्यः समात्माऽसम्मितः समः।

Vasur vasumanāḥ satyaḥ samātmā'sammitaḥ samaḥ

The dwelling; of generous mind; the true; of even Self; not to be compared; the equal-minded.

अमोघः पुण्डरीकाक्षो वृषकर्मा वृषाकृतिः॥12॥

Amoghaḥ puṇḍarīkākṣo vṛṣakarmā vṛṣākṛtiḥ

Never fruitless; lotus-eyed; whose acts are dharma; whose very form is dharma.

verse 13

रुद्रो बहुशिरा बभ्रुर्विश्वयोनिः शुचिश्रवाः।

Rudro bahuśirā babhrur viśvayoniḥ śuciśravāḥ

Rudra, who makes men weep; many-headed; the tawny one; womb of the universe; of holy renown.

अमृतः शाश्वतस्थाणुर्वरारोहो महातपाः॥13॥

Amṛtaḥ śāśvata-sthāṇur varāroho mahātapāḥ

The nectar; the eternal pillar; of noble ascent; of great austerity.

verse 14

सर्वगः सर्वविद्भानुर्विष्वक्सेनो जनार्दनः।

Sarvagaḥ sarvavidbhānur viṣvakseno janārdanaḥ

Who goes everywhere; who knows all; the sun; whose army faces every way; Janardana, who stirs men.

वेदो वेदविदव्यङ्गो वेदाङ्गो वेदवित् कविः॥14॥

Vedo vedavid-avyaṅgo vedāṅgo vedavit kaviḥ

The Veda; knower of the Veda; without limbs and yet the limbs of the Veda; knower of the Veda; the seer-poet.

verse 15

लोकाध्यक्षः सुराध्यक्षो धर्माध्यक्षः कृताकृतः।

Lokādhyakṣaḥ surādhyakṣo dharmādhyakṣaḥ kṛtākṛtaḥ

Overseer of the worlds; overseer of the gods; overseer of dharma; both done and undone.

चतुरात्मा चतुर्व्यूहश्चतुर्दंष्ट्रश्चतुर्भुजः॥15॥

Caturātmā catur-vyūhaś catur-daṃṣṭraś caturbhujaḥ

Fourfold in Self; fourfold in manifestation; four-tusked; four-armed.

verse 16

भ्राजिष्णुर्भोजनं भोक्ता सहिष्णुर्जगदादिजः।

Bhrājiṣṇur-bhojanaṃ bhoktā sahiṣṇur jagadādajaḥ

The shining; the food; the eater; the patient; first-born of the world.

अनघो विजयो जेता विश्वयोनिः पुनर्वसुः॥16॥

Anagho vijayo jetā viśvayoniḥ punarvasuḥ

Without sin; the victory; the conqueror; womb of the universe; who dwells again and again.

verse 17

उपेन्द्रो वामनः प्रांशुरमोघः शुचिरूर्जितः।

Upendro vāmanaḥ prāṃśur amoghaḥ śucir ūrjitaḥ

Upendra, Indra's younger; Vamana the dwarf; the tall; the unfailing; the pure; the vigorous.

अतीन्द्रः सङ्ग्रहः सर्गो धृतात्मा नियमो यमः॥17॥

Atīndraḥ saṅgrahaḥ sargo dhṛtātmā niyamo yamaḥ

Beyond Indra; the gatherer; creation itself; of restrained Self; restraint; the restrainer.

verse 18

वेद्यो वैद्यः सदायोगी वीरहा माधवो मधुः।

Vedyo vaidyaḥ sadā-yogī vīrahā Mādhavo madhuḥ

To be known; the physician; ever in yoga; slayer of heroes; Madhava; the sweet.

अतीन्द्रियो महामायो महोत्साहो महाबलः॥18॥

Atīndriyo mahāmāyo mahotsāho mahābalaḥ

Beyond the senses; of the great maya; of great endeavour; of great strength.

verse 19

महाबुद्धिर्महावीर्यो महाशक्तिर्महाद्युतिः।

Mahābuddhir mahāvīryo mahāśaktir mahādyutiḥ

Of great intellect; of great virility; of great power; of great splendour.

अनिर्देश्यवपुः श्रीमानमेयात्मा महाद्रिधृक्॥19॥

Anirdeśya-vapuḥ śrīmān ameyātmā mahādri-dhṛk

Whose form cannot be described; possessed of Shri; whose Self is beyond measure; who lifted the great mountain.

verse 20

महेष्वासो महीभर्ता श्रीनिवासः सतां गतिः।

Maheṣvāso mahī-bhartā Śrīnivāsaḥ satāṃ gatiḥ

Of the great bow; bearer of the earth; abode of Shri; goal of the good.

अनिरुद्धः सुरानन्दो गोविन्दो गोविदां पतिः॥20॥

Aniruddhaḥ surānando govindo govidāṃ patiḥ

Aniruddha, who cannot be obstructed; joy of the gods; Govinda; lord of those who know speech.

verse 21

मरीचिर्दमनो हंसः सुपर्णो भुजगोत्तमः।

Marīcir damano haṃsaḥ suparṇo bhujagottamaḥ

The ray of light; the subduer; the swan; the fair-winged; best among serpents.

हिरण्यनाभः सुतपाः पद्मनाभः प्रजापतिः॥21॥

Hiraṇyanābhaḥ sutapāḥ padmanābhaḥ prajāpatiḥ

Golden-navelled; of noble austerity; lotus-navelled; lord of creatures.

verse 22

अमृत्युः सर्वदृक् सिंहः सन्धाता सन्धिमान् स्थिरः।

Amṛtyuḥ sarvadṛk siṃhaḥ sandhātā sandhimān sthiraḥ

Deathless; who sees all; the lion; the joiner; who holds all joined; the steady.

अजो दुर्मर्षणः शास्ता विश्रुतात्मा सुरारिहा॥22॥

Ajo durmarṣaṇaḥ śāstā viśrutātmā surārihā

The unborn; hard to bear down; the ruler; whose Self is renowned; slayer of the gods' foes.

verse 23

गुरुर्गुरुतमो धाम सत्यः सत्यपराक्रमः।

Gurur gurutamo dhāma satyaḥ satya-parākramaḥ

The teacher; the greatest of teachers; the abode; the true; whose valour is truth.

निमिषोऽनिमिषः स्रग्वी वाचस्पतिरुदारधीः॥23॥

Nimiṣo'nimiṣaḥ sragvī vācaspatir udāradhīḥ

Who closes the eye; who never closes the eye; garlanded; lord of speech; of generous understanding.

verse 24

अग्रणीर्ग्रामणीः श्रीमान् न्यायो नेता समीरणः।

Agraṇīr grāmaṇīḥ śrīmān nyāyo netā samīraṇaḥ

The foremost; leader of the village; possessed of Shri; justice itself; the guide; the wind.

सहस्रमूर्धा विश्वात्मा सहस्राक्षः सहस्रपात्॥24॥

Sahasramūrdhā viśvātmā sahasrākṣaḥ sahasrapāt

Of a thousand heads; Self of the universe; of a thousand eyes; of a thousand feet.

verse 25

आवर्तनो निवृत्तात्मा संवृतः सम्प्रमर्दनः।

Āvartano nivṛttātmā saṃvṛtaḥ sampramardanaḥ

Who turns the wheel of the world; whose Self has turned away; the enveloped; the great crusher.

अहः संवर्तको वह्निरनिलो धरणीधरः॥25॥

Ahaḥ saṃvartako vahnir anilo dharaṇī-dharaḥ

Who rolls up the day; fire; wind; bearer of the earth.

verse 26

सुप्रसादः प्रसन्नात्मा विश्वधृग्विश्वभुग्विभुः।

Suprasādaḥ prasannātmā viśvadhṛg-viśvabhug-vibhuḥ

Of gracious favour; of serene Self; who upholds the universe; who consumes the universe; the all-pervading.

सत्कर्ता सत्कृतः साधुर्जह्नुर्नारायणो नरः॥26॥

Satkartā satkṛtaḥ sādhur jahnur Nārāyaṇo naraḥ

Doer of good; well honoured; the good man; the river; Narayana; the Man.

verse 27

असङ्ख्येयोऽप्रमेयात्मा विशिष्टः शिष्टकृच्छुचिः।

Asaṃkhyeyo'prameyātmā viśiṣṭaḥ śiṣṭakṛc-chuciḥ

Beyond counting; whose Self is beyond measure; the distinguished; who makes men disciplined; the pure.

सिद्धार्थः सिद्धसङ्कल्पः सिद्धिदः सिद्धिसाधनः॥27॥

Siddhārthaḥ siddha-saṃkalpaḥ siddhidaḥ siddhi-sādhanaḥ

Whose purpose is accomplished; whose will is accomplished; giver of attainment; the means of attainment.

verse 28

वृषाही वृषभो विष्णुर्वृषपर्वा वृषोदरः।

Vṛṣāhī vṛṣabho viṣṇur vṛṣaparvā vṛṣodaraḥ

Bearer of dharma; the bull; Vishnu; whose joints are dharma; in whose belly dharma lies.

वर्धनो वर्धमानश्च विविक्तः श्रुतिसागरः॥28॥

Vardhano vardhamānaś ca viviktaḥ śruti-sāgaraḥ

The increaser; the increasing; the separate; ocean of the shruti.

verse 29

सुभुजो दुर्धरो वाग्मी महेन्द्रो वसुदो वसुः।

Subhujo durdharo vāgmī Mahendro vasudo vasuḥ

Of fair arms; hard to hold; eloquent; the great Indra; giver of wealth; wealth itself.

नैकरूपो बृहद्रूपः शिपिविष्टः प्रकाशनः॥29॥

Naikarūpo bṛhadrūpaḥ śipiviṣṭaḥ prakāśanaḥ

Of many forms; of vast form; who entered into rays; the illuminator.

verse 30

ओजस्तेजोद्युतिधरः प्रकाशात्मा प्रतापनः।

Ojas-tejo-dyuti-dharaḥ prakāśātmā pratāpanaḥ

Bearer of vigour, brilliance and lustre; whose Self is light; the burning one.

ऋद्धः स्पष्टाक्षरो मन्त्रश्चन्द्रांशुर्भास्करद्युतिः॥30॥

Ṛddhaḥ spaṣṭākṣaro mantraś candrāṃśur bhāskara-dyutiḥ

The prosperous; of clear syllables; the mantra; the moonbeam; of the sun's own splendour.

verse 31

अमृतांशूद्भवो भानुः शशबिन्दुः सुरेश्वरः।

Amṛtāṃśūdbhavo bhānuḥ śaśabinduḥ sureśvaraḥ

Source of the nectar-rayed moon; the sun; marked like the hare; lord of the gods.

औषधं जगतः सेतुः सत्यधर्मपराक्रमः॥31॥

Auṣadhaṃ jagataḥ setuḥ satya-dharma-parākramaḥ

The medicine; the bridge across the world; whose valour is truth and dharma.

verse 32

भूतभव्यभवन्नाथः पवनः पावनोऽनलः।

Bhūta-bhavya-bhavan-nāthaḥ pavanaḥ pāvano'nalaḥ

Lord of past, future and present; the wind; the purifier; fire.

कामहा कामकृत्कान्तः कामः कामप्रदः प्रभुः॥32॥

Kāmahā kāmakṛt-kāntaḥ kāmaḥ kāma-pradaḥ prabhuḥ

Destroyer of desire; maker of desire; the beloved; desire itself; giver of what is desired; the lord.

verse 33

युगादिकृद्युगावर्तो नैकमायो महाशनः।

Yugādi-kṛd yugāvarto naikamāyo mahāśanaḥ

Maker of the ages' beginning; who turns the ages round; of many mayas; the great eater.

अदृश्यो व्यक्तरूपश्च सहस्रजिदनन्तजित्॥33॥

Adṛśyo vyakta-rūpaś ca sahasrajid anantajit

The unseen; and of manifest form; conqueror of thousands; conqueror of the endless.

verse 34

इष्टोऽविशिष्टः शिष्टेष्टः शिखण्डी नहुषो वृषः।

Iṣṭo'viśiṣṭaḥ śiṣṭeṣṭaḥ śikhaṇḍī nahuṣo vṛṣaḥ

The desired; the undistinguished; dear to the disciplined; the crested; Nahusha, who binds; the bull.

क्रोधहा क्रोधकृत्कर्ता विश्वबाहुर्महीधरः॥34॥

Krodhahā krodhakṛt-kartā viśvabāhur mahīdharaḥ

Destroyer of anger; who rouses anger; the doer; whose arms reach through the world; bearer of the earth.

verse 35

अच्युतः प्रथितः प्राणः प्राणदो वासवानुजः।

Acyutaḥ prathitaḥ prāṇaḥ prāṇado vāsavānujaḥ

Achyuta; the famed; life-breath; giver of life; younger brother of Vasava.

अपांनिधिरधिष्ठानमप्रमत्तः प्रतिष्ठितः॥35॥

Apāṃnidhir adhiṣṭhānam apramattaḥ pratiṣṭhitaḥ

Ocean of waters; the foundation; the never-heedless; the firmly established.

verse 36

स्कन्दः स्कन्दधरो धुर्यो वरदो वायुवाहनः।

Skandaḥ skandadharo dhuryo varado vāyu-vāhanaḥ

Skanda; who bears Skanda; the yoke-bearer; giver of boons; borne by the wind.

वासुदेवो बृहद्भानुरादिदेवः पुरन्दरः॥36॥

Vāsudevo bṛhadbhānur ādi-devaḥ purandaraḥ

Vasudeva; of vast radiance; the first god; Purandara, breaker of strongholds.

verse 37

अशोकस्तारणस्तारः शूरः शौरिर्जनेश्वरः।

Aśokas tāraṇas tāraḥ śūraḥ śaurir janeśvaraḥ

Free of sorrow; who carries across; the ferry itself; the brave; Shauri, of Shura's line; lord of men.

अनुकूलः शतावर्तः पद्मी पद्मनिभेक्षणः॥37॥

Anukūlaḥ śatāvartaḥ padmī padma-nibhekṣaṇaḥ

The favourable; of a hundred turnings; lotus-holder; whose glance is like a lotus.

verse 38

पद्मनाभोऽरविन्दाक्षः पद्मगर्भः शरीरभृत्।

Padmanābho'ravindākṣaḥ padmagarbhaḥ śarīrabhṛt

Lotus-navelled; lotus-eyed; born of the lotus; bearer of bodies.

महर्द्धिरृद्धो वृद्धात्मा महाक्षो गरुडध्वजः॥38॥

Maharddhi-ṛddho vṛddhātmā mahākṣo garuḍa-dhvajaḥ

Of great abundance; the prosperous; whose Self has grown great; large-eyed; whose banner bears Garuda.

verse 39

अतुलः शरभो भीमः समयज्ञो हविर्हरिः।

Atulaḥ śarabho bhīmaḥ samayajño havir hariḥ

Beyond compare; the sharabha beast; the terrible; who knows the right time; the oblation; Hari.

सर्वलक्षणलक्षण्यो लक्ष्मीवान् समितिञ्जयः॥39॥

Sarvalakṣaṇa-lakṣaṇyo lakṣmīvān samitiñjayaḥ

Marked by every auspicious mark; possessed of Lakshmi; victorious in battle.

verse 40

विक्षरो रोहितो मार्गो हेतुर्दामोदरः सहः।

Vikṣaro rohito mārgo hetur dāmodaraḥ sahaḥ

The imperishable; the red one; the path; the cause; Damodara; the enduring.

महीधरो महाभागो वेगवानमिताशनः॥40॥

Mahīdharo mahābhāgo vegavān amitāśanaḥ

Bearer of the earth; greatly fortunate; the swift; whose eating knows no measure.

verse 41

उद्भवः क्षोभणो देवः श्रीगर्भः परमेश्वरः।

Udbhavaḥ kṣobhaṇo devaḥ śrīgarbhaḥ parameśvaraḥ

The arising; the agitator; the god; in whose womb Shri lies; the supreme sovereign.

करणं कारणं कर्ता विकर्ता गहनो गुहः॥41॥

Karaṇaṃ kāraṇaṃ kartā vikartā gahano guhaḥ

The instrument; the cause; the doer; the undoer; the unfathomable; the hidden.

verse 42

व्यवसायो व्यवस्थानः संस्थानः स्थानदो ध्रुवः।

Vyavasāyo vyavasthānaḥ saṃsthānaḥ sthānado dhruvaḥ

Effort; the well-ordered; the abiding place; giver of place; the fixed.

परर्द्धिः परमस्पष्टस्तुष्टः पुष्टः शुभेक्षणः॥42॥

Pararddhiḥ paramaspaṣṭas tuṣṭaḥ puṣṭaḥ śubhekṣaṇaḥ

Of surpassing abundance; supremely manifest; the contented; the well-fed; of auspicious glance.

verse 43

रामो विरामो विरजो मार्गो नेयो नयोऽनयः।

Rāmo virāmo virajo mārgo neyo nayo'nayaḥ

Rama; the resting-place; free of passion; the path; the one led; the guide; and the ungovernable.

वीरः शक्तिमतां श्रेष्ठो धर्मो धर्मविदुत्तमः॥43॥

Vīraḥ śaktimatāṃ śreṣṭho dharmo dharmaviduttamaḥ

The hero; best among the powerful; dharma itself; highest of those who know dharma.

verse 44

वैकुण्ठः पुरुषः प्राणः प्राणदः प्रणवः पृथुः।

Vaikuṇṭhaḥ puruṣaḥ prāṇaḥ prāṇadaḥ praṇavaḥ pṛthuḥ

Vaikuntha; the Person; life-breath; giver of life; the syllable Om; the vast.

हिरण्यगर्भः शत्रुघ्नो व्याप्तो वायुरधोक्षजः॥44॥

Hiraṇyagarbhaḥ śatrughno vyāpto vāyur adhokṣajaḥ

Golden-wombed; slayer of foes; the pervading; the wind; Adhokshaja.

verse 45

ऋतुः सुदर्शनः कालः परमेष्ठी परिग्रहः।

Ṛtuḥ sudarśanaḥ kālaḥ parameṣṭhī parigrahaḥ

The season; of fair aspect; Time; the highest-seated; the receiver.

उग्रः संवत्सरो दक्षो विश्रामो विश्वदक्षिणः॥45॥

Ugraḥ saṃvatsaro dakṣo viśrāmo viśvadakṣiṇaḥ

The fierce; the year; the able; the resting-place; whose gifts reach every side.

verse 46

विस्तारः स्थावरस्थाणुः प्रमाणं बीजमव्ययम्।

Vistāraḥ sthāvara-sthāṇuḥ pramāṇaṃ bījam avyayam

Extension; the fixed and unmoving pillar; the measure; the undecaying seed.

अर्थोऽनर्थो महाकोशो महाभोगो महाधनः॥46॥

Artho'nartho mahākośo mahābhogo mahādhanaḥ

Wealth; and worthlessness; the great treasury; of great enjoyment; of great riches.

verse 47

अनिर्विण्णः स्थविष्ठोऽभूर्धर्मयूपो महामखः।

Anirviṇṇaḥ sthaviṣṭho'bhūr dharmayūpo mahāmakhaḥ

Never despondent; the most vast; without being; the sacrificial post of dharma; the great sacrifice.

नक्षत्रनेमिर्नक्षत्री क्षमः क्षामः समीहनः॥47॥

Nakṣatra-nemir nakṣatrī kṣamaḥ kṣāmaḥ samīhanaḥ

Hub of the stars; lord of the stars; the patient; the lean; who desires rightly.

verse 48

यज्ञ इज्यो महेज्यश्च क्रतुः सत्रं सतां गतिः।

Yajña ijyo mahejyaś ca kratuḥ satraṃ satāṃ gatiḥ

The sacrifice; the worshipped; greatly worthy of worship; the rite; the long sacrifice; goal of the good.

सर्वदर्शी विमुक्तात्मा सर्वज्ञो ज्ञानमुत्तमम्॥48॥

Sarvadarśī vimuktātmā sarvajño jñānam uttamam

Who sees all; whose Self is free; the all-knowing; knowledge at its highest.

verse 49

सुव्रतः सुमुखः सूक्ष्मः सुघोषः सुखदः सुहृत्।

Suvrataḥ sumukhaḥ sūkṣmaḥ sughoṣaḥ sukhadaḥ suhṛt

Of good vows; of pleasing face; the subtle; of fair sound; giver of joy; the good friend.

मनोहरो जितक्रोधो वीरबाहुर्विदारणः॥49॥

Manoharo jitakrodho vīrabāhur vidāraṇaḥ

Stealer of the mind; who has conquered anger; of heroic arms; the render.

verse 50

स्वापनः स्ववशो व्यापी नैकात्मा नैककर्मकृत्।

Svāpanaḥ svavaśo vyāpī naikātmā naika-karma-kṛt

Who brings to sleep; self-governed; the pervading; of many Selves; who does many works.

वत्सरो वत्सलो वत्सी रत्नगर्भो धनेश्वरः॥50॥

Vatsaro vatsalo vatsī ratnagarbho dhaneśvaraḥ

The year; the affectionate; owner of the calf; whose womb holds jewels; lord of riches.

verse 51

धर्मगुब्धर्मकृद्धर्मी सदसत्क्षरमक्षरम्।

Dharmagub-dharmakṛd-dharmī sadasat-kṣaram akṣaram

Guardian of dharma; maker of dharma; possessed of dharma; being and non-being; the perishable and the imperishable.

अविज्ञाता सहस्रांशुर्विधाता कृतलक्षणः॥51॥

Avijñātā sahasrāṃśur vidhātā kṛtalakṣaṇaḥ

The unknown; of a thousand rays; the ordainer; who made all marks.

verse 52

गभस्तिनेमिः सत्त्वस्थः सिंहो भूतमहेश्वरः।

Gabhastinemiḥ sattvastha siṃho bhūtamaheśvaraḥ

Hub of the sun's rays; established in purity; the lion; great lord of all beings.

आदिदेवो महादेवो देवेशो देवभृद्गुरुः॥52॥

Ādi-devo mahā-devo deveśo devabhṛd-guruḥ

The first god; the great god; lord of the gods; who sustains the gods; the teacher.

verse 53

उत्तरो गोपतिर्गोप्ता ज्ञानगम्यः पुरातनः।

Uttaro gopatir goptā jñānagamyaḥ purātanaḥ

The higher; lord of cattle; the protector; to be reached by knowledge; the ancient.

शरीरभूतभृद्भोक्ता कपीन्द्रो भूरिदक्षिणः॥53॥

Śarīra-bhūtabhṛd-bhoktā kapīndro bhūridakṣiṇaḥ

Who bears the body and all beings; the eater; lord of monkeys; of abundant gifts.

verse 54

सोमपोऽमृतपः सोमः पुरुजित्पुरुसत्तमः।

Somapā'mṛtapaḥ somaḥ purujit purusattamaḥ

Drinker of soma; drinker of nectar; the moon; conqueror of many; best among many.

विनयो जयः सत्यसन्धो दाशार्हः सात्वताम्पतिः॥54॥

Vinayo jayaḥ satyasandho dāśārhaḥ sātvatāṃ patiḥ

Modesty; victory; whose bond is truth; of the Dasharha line; lord of the Satvatas.

verse 55

जीवो विनयिता साक्षी मुकुन्दोऽमितविक्रमः।

Jīvo vinayitā sākṣī mukundo'mita-vikramaḥ

The living; who teaches modesty; the witness; Mukunda; of measureless valour.

अम्भोनिधिरनन्तात्मा महोदधिशयोऽन्तकः॥55॥

Ambhonidhir anantātmā mahodadhi-śayo'ntakaḥ

Ocean of waters; whose Self is endless; who sleeps on the great deep; the ender.

verse 56

अजो महार्हः स्वाभाव्यो जितामित्रः प्रमोदनः।

Ajo mahārhaḥ svābhāvyo jitāmitraḥ pramodanaḥ

The unborn; greatly worthy; of natural being; conqueror of foes; the gladdener.

आनन्दो नन्दनो नन्दः सत्यधर्मा त्रिविक्रमः॥56॥

Ānando nandano nandaḥ satyadharmā trivikramaḥ

Bliss; the delighter; Nanda; whose dharma is truth; Trivikrama of the three strides.

verse 57

महर्षिः कपिलाचार्यः कृतज्ञो मेदिनीपतिः।

Maharṣiḥ kapilācāryaḥ kṛtajño medinīpatiḥ

The great seer; the teacher Kapila; who knows what has been done; lord of the earth.

त्रिपदस्त्रिदशाध्यक्षो महाशृङ्गः कृतान्तकृत्॥57॥

Tripadas tridaśādhyakṣo mahāśṛṅgaḥ kṛtāntakṛt

Of three steps; overseer of the thirty gods; of the great horn; who made an end of endings.

verse 58

महावराहो गोविन्दः सुषेणः कनकाङ्गदी।

Mahāvarāho govindaḥ suṣeṇaḥ kanakāṅgadī

The great Boar; Govinda; of a fine army; wearing golden armlets.

गुह्यो गभीरो गहनो गुप्तश्चक्रगदाधरः॥58॥

Guhyo gabhīro gahano guptaś cakra-gadā-dharaḥ

The secret; the deep; the unfathomable; the guarded; bearer of discus and mace.

verse 59

वेधाः स्वाङ्गोऽजितः कृष्णो दृढः सङ्कर्षणोऽच्युतः।

Vedhāḥ svāṅgo'jitaḥ kṛṣṇo dṛḍhaḥ saṅkarṣaṇo'cyutaḥ

The ordainer; whose limbs are His own; the unconquered; Krishna; the firm; Sankarshana; Achyuta.

वरुणो वारुणो वृक्षः पुष्कराक्षो महामनाः॥59॥

Varuṇo vāruṇo vṛkṣaḥ puṣkarākṣo mahāmanāḥ

Varuna; son of Varuna; the tree; lotus-eyed; of great mind.

verse 60

भगवान् भगहाऽऽनन्दी वनमाली हलायुधः।

Bhagavān bhagahā'nandī vanamālī halāyudhaḥ

Bhagavan; destroyer of fortune; the joyful; garlanded with forest flowers; armed with the plough.

आदित्यो ज्योतिरादित्यः सहिष्णुर्गतिसत्तमः॥60॥

Ādityo jyotir-ādityaḥ sahiṣṇur gati-sattamaḥ

The sun; the sun as light; the patient; best of all who move.

verse 61

सुधन्वा खण्डपरशुर्दारुणो द्रविणप्रदः।

Sudhanvā khaṇḍa-paraśur dāruṇo draviṇa-pradaḥ

Of the good bow; whose axe is broken; the fierce; giver of wealth.

दिवस्पृक् सर्वदृग्व्यासो वाचस्पतिरयोनिजः॥61॥

Divasspṛk sarvadṛg-vyāso vācaspatir ayonijaḥ

Who touches the sky; who sees all; Vyasa the arranger; lord of speech; born of no womb.

verse 62

त्रिसामा सामगः साम निर्वाणं भेषजं भिषक्।

Trisāmā sāmagaḥ sāma nirvāṇaṃ bheṣajaṃ bhiṣak

Of the three Samans; singer of the Saman; the Saman itself; nirvana; the remedy; the healer.

संन्यासकृच्छमः शान्तो निष्ठा शान्तिः पायणम्॥62॥

Saṃnyāsa-kṛc-chamaḥ śānto niṣṭhā śāntiḥ pārayanam

Who established renunciation; the tranquil; the peaceful; the abiding ground; peace itself; the purifier.

verse 63

शुभाङ्गः शान्तिदः स्रष्टा कुमुदः कुवलेशयः।

Śubhāṅgaḥ śāntidaḥ sraṣṭā kumudaḥ kuvalayaśayaḥ

Of fair limbs; giver of peace; the creator; the delightful; who sleeps in the water-lily.

गोहितो गोपतिर्गोप्ता वृषभाक्षो वृषप्रियः॥63॥

Gohito gopatir goptā vṛṣabhākṣo vṛṣapriyaḥ

Well-wisher of cattle; lord of cattle; the protector; whose eye is the bull; to whom dharma is dear.

verse 64

अनिवर्ती निवृत्तात्मा सङ्क्षेप्ता क्षेमकृच्छिवः।

Anivartī nivṛttātmā saṃkṣeptā kṣemakṛc-chivaḥ

Who never turns back; whose Self has turned away from the world; who draws all in again; who works welfare; the auspicious.

श्रीवत्सवक्षाः श्रीवासः श्रीपतिः श्रीमतांवरः॥64॥

Śrīvatsa-vakṣāḥ śrīvāsaḥ śrīpatiḥ śrīmatāṃ varaḥ

On whose chest is the Shrivatsa mark; in whom Shri dwells; consort of Shri; best of all who are fortunate.

verse 65

श्रीदः श्रीशः श्रीनिवासः श्रीनिधिः श्रीविभावनः।

Śrīdaḥ śrīśaḥ śrīnivāsaḥ śrīnidhiḥ śrīvibhāvanaḥ

Giver of Shri; lord of Shri; dwelling of Shri; treasury of Shri; who bestows Shri abroad.

श्रीधरः श्रीकरः श्रेयः श्रीमाँल्लोकत्रयाश्रयः॥65॥

Śrīdharaḥ śrīkaraḥ śreyaḥ śrīmāṃl-loka-traya-āśrayaḥ

Bearer of Shri; who brings Shri about; the highest good; possessed of Shri; refuge of the three worlds.

verse 66

स्वक्षः स्वङ्गः शतानन्दो नन्दिर्ज्योतिर्गणेश्वरः।

Svakṣaḥ svaṅgaḥ śatānando nandir jyotir-gaṇeśvaraḥ

Of fair eyes; of fair limbs; of a hundred joys; joy itself; lord of the host of lights.

विजितात्माऽविधेयात्मा सत्कीर्तिश्छिन्नसंशयः॥66॥

Vijitātmā'vidheyātmā satkīrtiś chinna-saṃśayaḥ

Who has conquered His own Self; whose Self bows to no command; of true renown; in whom doubt is cut away.

verse 67

उदीर्णः सर्वतश्चक्षुरनीशः शाश्वतस्थिरः।

Udīrṇaḥ sarvataś cakṣur anīśaḥ śāśvata-sthiraḥ

Risen high; whose eyes look from every side; who has no lord above Him; eternal and unmoving.

भूशयो भूषणो भूतिर्विशोकः शोकनाशनः॥67॥

Bhūśayo bhūṣaṇo bhūtir viśokaḥ śoka-nāśanaḥ

Who lay upon the bare ground; the ornament; being and abundance; free of sorrow; destroyer of sorrow.

verse 68

अर्चिष्मानर्चितः कुम्भो विशुद्धात्मा विशोधनः।

Arciṣmān arcitaḥ kumbho viśuddhātmā viśodhanaḥ

Flame-bearing; the worshipped; the vessel; of wholly pure Self; the purifier.

अनिरुद्धोऽप्रतिरथः प्रद्युम्नोऽमितविक्रमः॥68॥

Aniruddho'pratirataḥ pradyumno'mita-vikramaḥ

Aniruddha; who has no chariot to match His own; Pradyumna; of measureless valour.

verse 69

कालनेमिनिहा वीरः शौरिः शूरजनेश्वरः।

Kālanemi-nihā vīraḥ śauriḥ śūra-janeśvaraḥ

Slayer of Kalanemi; the hero; Shauri, of Shura's line; lord of heroic men.

त्रिलोकात्मा त्रिलोकेशः केशवः केशिहा हरिः॥69॥

Trilokātmā triloke'śaḥ keśavaḥ keśihā hariḥ

Self of the three worlds; lord of the three worlds; Keshava; slayer of Keshin; Hari.

verse 70

कामदेवः कामपालः कामी कान्तः कृतागमः।

Kāmadevaḥ kāmapālaḥ kāmī kāntaḥ kṛtāgamaḥ

Kamadeva, the desired one; guardian of desires; who lacks no desire; the beautiful; author of the scriptures.

अनिर्देश्यवपुर्विष्णुर्वीरोऽनन्तो धनञ्जयः॥70॥

Anirdeśya-vapur viṣṇur vīro'nanto dhanañjayaḥ

Whose body cannot be pointed out; Vishnu; the hero; the endless; winner of wealth.

verse 71

ब्रह्मण्यो ब्रह्मकृद् ब्रह्मा ब्रह्म ब्रह्मविवर्धनः।

Brahmaṇyo brahmakṛd brahmā brahma brahma-vivardhanḥ

Devoted to Brahman; who brings Brahman forth; Brahma the creator; Brahman itself; who makes Brahman increase.

ब्रह्मविद् ब्राह्मणो ब्रह्मी ब्रह्मज्ञो ब्राह्मणप्रियः॥71॥

Brahmavid brāhmaṇo brahmī brahmajño brāhmaṇa-priyaḥ

Knower of the Veda; the brahmana; to whom Brahman belongs; who knows Brahman; dear to the brahmanas.

verse 72

महाक्रमो महाकर्मा महातेजा महोरगः।

Mahākramo mahākarmā mahātejā mahoragaḥ

Of mighty stride; of mighty deeds; of great splendour; the great serpent.

महाक्रतुर्महायज्वा महायज्ञो महाहविः॥72॥

Mahākratur mahāyajvā mahāyajño mahāhaviḥ

The great rite; the great sacrificer; the great sacrifice; the great oblation.

verse 73

स्तव्यः स्तवप्रियः स्तोत्रं स्तुतिः स्तोता रणप्रियः।

Stavyaḥ stavapriyaḥ stotraṃ stutiḥ stotā raṇapriyaḥ

Worthy of praise; who loves praise; the hymn itself; the praising; the praiser; who loves the fight.

पूर्णः पूरयिता पुण्यः पुण्यकीर्तिरनामयः॥73॥

Pūrṇaḥ pūrayitā puṇyaḥ puṇyakīrtir anāmayaḥ

The full; who fills; the holy; of holy renown; free of all disease.

verse 74

मनोजवस्तीर्थकरो वसुरेता वसुप्रदः।

Manojavaś tīrthakaro vasure'tā vasupradaḥ

Swift as thought; maker of the sacred crossing; whose seed is wealth; giver of wealth.

वसुप्रदो वासुदेवो वसुर्वसुमना हविः॥74॥

Vasuprado vāsudevo vasur vasumanā haviḥ

Giver of wealth; Vasudeva; wealth itself; whose mind is on giving; the oblation.

verse 75

सद्गतिः सत्कृतिः सत्ता सद्भूतिः सत्परायणः।

Sadgatiḥ satkṛtiḥ sattā sadbhūtiḥ satparāyaṇaḥ

The true goal; the true deed; being itself; true becoming; whose refuge is the good.

शूरसेनो यदुश्रेष्ठः सन्निवासः सुयामुनः॥75॥

Śūraseno yaduśreṣṭhaḥ sannivāsaḥ suyāmunaḥ

Shurasena; best of the Yadus; the good dwelling; fair on the Yamuna.

verse 76

भूतावासो वासुदेवः सर्वासुनिलयोऽनलः।

Bhūtāvāso vāsudevaḥ sarvāsu-nilayo'nalaḥ

Dwelling of all beings; Vasudeva; the resting place of every life-breath; fire.

दर्पहा दर्पदो दृप्तो दुर्धरोऽथापराजितः॥76॥

Darpahā darpado dṛpto durdharo'thāparājitaḥ

Destroyer of pride; who gives pride; the proud; hard to hold; and the unconquered.

verse 77

विश्वमूर्तिर्महामूर्तिर्दीप्तमूर्तिरमूर्तिमान्।

Viśvamūrtir mahāmūrtir dīptamūrtir amūrtimān

Whose form is the universe; of vast form; of blazing form; and who has no form at all.

अनेकमूर्तिरव्यक्तः शतमूर्तिः शताननः॥77॥

Anekamūrtir avyaktaḥ śatamūrtiḥ śatānanaḥ

Of many forms; the unmanifest; of a hundred forms; of a hundred faces.

verse 78

एको नैकः सवः कः किं यत् तत्पदमनुत्तमम्।

Eko naikaḥ savaḥ kaḥ kiṃ yat tat-padam anuttamam

The one; the not-one; the sacrifice; Who; What; Which; that state beyond which there is none higher.

लोकबन्धुर्लोकनाथो माधवो भक्तवत्सलः॥78॥

Lokabandhu-lokanātho Mādhavo bhaktavatsalaḥ

Kinsman of the world; lord of the world; Madhava; tender towards those who love Him.

verse 79

सुवर्णवर्णो हेमाङ्गो वराङ्गश्चन्दनाङ्गदी।

Suvarṇavarṇo hemāṅgo varāṅgaś candanāṅgadī

Of golden hue; golden-limbed; of fair limbs; wearing sandal-scented armlets.

वीरहा विषमः शून्यो घृताशीरचलश्चलः॥79॥

Vīrahā viṣamaḥ śūnyo ghṛtāśīr acalaś calaḥ

Slayer of heroes; the uneven; the void; whose portion is ghee; the unmoving and the moving.

verse 80

अमानी मानदो मान्यो लोकस्वामी त्रिलोकधृक्।

Amānī mānado mānyo lokassvāmī triloka-dhṛk

Free of self-regard; who gives honour; worthy of honour; lord of the world; who upholds the three worlds.

सुमेधा मेधजो धन्यः सत्यमेधा धराधरः॥80॥

Sumedhā medhajo dhanyaḥ satyamedhā dharādharaḥ

Of good understanding; born of the offering; the blessed; whose understanding is true; bearer of the earth.

verse 81

तेजोवृषो द्युतिधरः सर्वशस्त्रभृतां वरः।

Tejovṛṣo dyutidharaḥ sarva-śastra-bhṛtāṃ varaḥ

The bull of splendour; bearer of light; best of all who carry weapons.

प्रग्रहो निग्रहो व्यग्रो नैकशृङ्गो गदाग्रजः॥81॥

Pragraho nigraho vyagro naikaśṛṅgo gadāgrajaḥ

Who takes hold; who holds back; the intent; of many peaks; elder brother of Gada.

verse 82

चतुर्मूर्तिश्चतुर्बाहुश्चतुर्व्यूहश्चतुर्गतिः।

Caturmūrtiś caturbāhuś caturvyūhaś caturgatiḥ

Of four forms; of four arms; of the fourfold emanation; of four ways.

चतुरात्मा चतुर्भावश्चतुर्वेदविदेकपात्॥82॥

Caturātmā caturbhāvaś caturvedavid ekapāt

Of four Selves; of four states of being; who knows the four Vedas; who takes but a single share.

verse 83

समावर्तोऽनिवृत्तात्मा दुर्जयो दुरतिक्रमः।

Samāvarto'nivṛttātmā durjayo duratikramaḥ

Who returns in cycles; whose Self never turns back; hard to conquer; hard to pass beyond.

दुर्लभो दुर्गमो दुर्गो दुरावासो दुरारिहा॥83॥

Durlabho durgamo durgo durāvāso durārihā

Hard to obtain; hard to approach; the fortress; hard to dwell in; slayer of the hard enemy.

verse 84

शुभाङ्गो लोकसारङ्गः सुतन्तुस्तन्तुवर्धनः।

Śubhāṅgo lokasāraṅgaḥ sutantus tantu-vardhanḥ

Of fair limbs; the bee of the world's lotus; of the fine thread; who makes the thread grow.

इन्द्रकर्मा महाकर्मा कृतकर्मा कृतागमः॥84॥

Indrakarmā mahākarmā kṛtakarmā kṛtāgamaḥ

Whose deeds are Indra's; of mighty deeds; whose work is done; author of the scriptures.

verse 85

उद्भवः सुन्दरः सुन्दो रत्ननाभः सुलोचनः।

Udbhavaḥ sundaraḥ sundo ratnanābhaḥ sulocanaḥ

The arising; the beautiful; the kindly; whose navel is a jewel; of fair eyes.

अर्को वाजसनः शृङ्गी जयन्तः सर्वविज्जयी॥85॥

Arko vājasanaḥ śṛṅgī jayantaḥ sarvaviJjayī

The sun; giver of food; the horned; the victorious; who knows all and conquers.

verse 86

सुवर्णबिन्दुरक्षोभ्यः सर्ववागीश्वरेश्वरः।

Suvarṇabindur akṣobhyaḥ sarva-vāgīśvareśvaraḥ

The golden drop; who cannot be shaken; lord over every lord of speech.

महाह्रदो महागर्तो महाभूतो महानिधिः॥86॥

Mahāhrado mahāgarto mahābhūto mahānidhiḥ

The great lake; the great chasm; the great being; the great treasure.

verse 87

कुमुदः कुन्दरः कुन्दः पर्जन्यः पावनोऽनिलः।

Kumudaḥ kundaraḥ kundaḥ parjanyaḥ pāvano'nilaḥ

The delightful; who splits the earth; the jasmine; the rain-cloud; the purifier; the wind.

अमृताशोऽमृतवपुः सर्वज्ञः सर्वतोमुखः॥87॥

Amṛtāśo'mṛtavapuḥ sarvajñaḥ sarvatomukhaḥ

Whose food is nectar; whose body is nectar; the all-knowing; whose faces turn every way.

verse 88

सुलभः सुव्रतः सिद्धः शत्रुजिच्छत्रुतापनः।

Sulabhaḥ suvrataḥ siddhaḥ śatrujic-chatru-tāpanaḥ

Easy to reach; of good vows; the accomplished; conqueror of foes; who scorches His enemies.

न्यग्रोधोऽदुम्बरोऽश्वत्थश्चाणूरान्ध्रनिषूदनः॥88॥

Nyagrodho'dumbaro'śvatthaś cāṇūrāndhra-niṣūdanaḥ

The banyan; the fig; the pipal; slayer of Chanura of the Andhra people.

verse 89

सहस्रार्चिः सप्तजिह्वः सप्तैधाः सप्तवाहनः।

Sahasrārciḥ saptajihvaḥ saptaidhāḥ saptavāhanaḥ

Of a thousand flames; of seven tongues; of seven fuels; of seven mounts.

अमूर्तिरनघोऽचिन्त्यो भयकृद्भयनाशनः॥89॥

Amūrtir anagho'cintyo bhayakṛd-bhaya-nāśanaḥ

Without form; without fault; beyond thought; who makes fear; who destroys fear.

verse 90

अणुर्बृहत्कृशः स्थूलो गुणभृन्निर्गुणो महान्।

Aṇur bṛhat kṛśaḥ sthūlo guṇabhṛn nirguṇo mahān

The minute; the vast; the lean; the gross; who holds the qualities; who has none; the great.

अधृतः स्वधृतः स्वास्यः प्राग्वंशो वंशवर्धनः॥90॥

Adhṛtaḥ svadhṛtaḥ svāsyaḥ prāgvaṃśo vaṃśavardhanḥ

Held by none; upheld by Himself; of fair face; the first of the line; who makes the line grow.

verse 91

भारभृत् कथितो योगी योगीशः सर्वकामदः।

Bhārabhṛt kathito yogī yogīśaḥ sarva-kāmadaḥ

Who bears the burden; the spoken of; the yogi; lord of yogis; who gives every desired thing.

आश्रमः श्रमणः क्षामः सुपर्णो वायुवाहनः॥91॥

Āśramaḥ śramaṇaḥ kṣāmaḥ suparṇo vāyu-vāhanaḥ

verse 92

धनुर्धरो धनुर्वेदो दण्डो दमयिता दमः।

Dhanurdharo dhanurvedo daṇḍo damayitā damaḥ

Bearer of the bow; the science of the bow; the rod; the chastiser; restraint itself.

अपराजितः सर्वसहो नियन्ताऽनियमोऽयमः॥92॥

Aparājitaḥ sarvasaho niyantā'niyamo'yamaḥ

The unconquered; who bears all; the restrainer; who is bound by no rule; who has no restraint upon Him.

verse 93

सत्त्ववान् सात्त्विकः सत्यः सत्यधर्मपरायणः।

Sattvavān sāttvikah satyaḥ satyadharma-parāyaṇaḥ

Possessed of sattva; of the nature of sattva; the true; devoted to truth and dharma.

अभिप्रायः प्रियार्होऽर्हः प्रियकृत् प्रीतिवर्धनः॥93॥

Abhiprāyaḥ priyārho'rhaḥ priyakṛt prīti-vardhanḥ

The one aimed at; worthy of love; worthy of worship; who does what pleases; who makes love grow.

verse 94

विहायसगतिर्ज्योतिः सुरुचिर्हुतभुग्विभुः।

Vihāyasagatir jyotiḥ surucir hutabhug vibhuḥ

Whose path is the open sky; light; of fair radiance; eater of the offering; the all-pervading.

रविर्विरोचनः सूर्यः सविता रविलोचनः॥94॥

Ravir virocanaḥ sūryaḥ savitā ravilocanaḥ

The sun by six of its names: Ravi; the shining one; Surya; the quickener; whose eye is the sun.

verse 95

अनन्तो हुतभुग्भोक्ता सुखदो नैकजोऽग्रजः।

Ananto hutabhug bhoktā sukhado naikajo'grajaḥ

The endless; eater of the offering; the enjoyer; giver of joy; born many times; the first-born.

अनिर्विण्णः सदामर्षी लोकाधिष्ठानमद्भुतः॥95॥

Anirviṇṇaḥ sadāmarṣī lokādhiṣṭhānam adbhutaḥ

Who never despairs; ever patient; the ground on which the worlds stand; the wonderful.

verse 96

सनात्सनातनतमः कपिलः कपिरव्ययः।

Sanāt sanātanatmaḥ kapilaḥ kapir avyayaḥ

The eternal; the most ancient of the ancient; Kapila; the ape; the undecaying.

स्वस्तिदः स्वस्तिकृत्स्वस्ति स्वस्तिभुक्स्वस्तिदक्षिणः॥96॥

Svastidaḥ svastikṛt svasti svastibhuk svastidakṣiṇaḥ

Giver of well-being; who makes well-being; well-being itself; who partakes of it; whose gift is well-being.

verse 97

अरौद्रः कुण्डली चक्री विक्रम्यूर्जितशासनः।

Araudraḥ kuṇḍalī cakrī vikramyūrjita-śāsanaḥ

Not fierce; wearing earrings; bearer of the discus; the valiant; whose command is strong.

शब्दातिगः शब्दसहः शिशिरः शर्वरीकरः॥97॥

Śabdātigaḥ śabdasahaḥ śiśiraḥ śarvarīkaraḥ

Beyond all sound; who bears sound; the cool; who makes the night.

verse 98

अक्रूरः पेशलो दक्षो दक्षिणः क्षमिणांवरः।

Akrūraḥ peśalo dakṣo dakṣiṇaḥ kṣamiṇāṃ varaḥ

Free of cruelty; the graceful; the skilful; the southern one; best of the patient.

विद्वत्तमो वीतभयः पुण्यश्रवणकीर्तनः॥98॥

Vidvattamo vītabhayaḥ puṇya-śravaṇa-kīrtanaḥ

Best of the learned; free of fear; whose hearing and telling make one holy.

verse 99

उत्तारणो दुष्कृतिहा पुण्यो दुःस्वप्ननाशनः।

Uttāraṇo duṣkṛtihā puṇyo duḥsvapna-nāśanaḥ

Who lifts across; destroyer of ill deeds; the holy; who ends the evil dream.

वीरहा रक्षणः सन्तो जीवनः पर्यवस्थितः॥99॥

Vīrahā rakṣaṇaḥ santo jīvanaḥ paryavasthitaḥ

Slayer of heroes; the protector; the good; who gives life; who stands all about us.

verse 100

अनन्तरूपोऽनन्तश्रीर्जितमन्युर्भयापहः।

Anantarūpo'nantaśrīr jitamanyur bhayāpahaḥ

Of endless forms; of endless splendour; who has conquered wrath; who takes fear away.

चतुरश्रो गभीरात्मा विदिशो व्यादिशो दिशः॥100॥

Caturaśro gabhīrātmā vidiśo vyādiśo diśaḥ

Four-square; of deep Self; who points the quarters out; who assigns them; direction itself.

verse 101

अनादिर्भूर्भुवो लक्ष्मीः सुवीरो रुचिराङ्गदः।

Anādir bhūr bhuvo lakṣmīḥ suvīro rucirāṅgadaḥ

Without beginning; the earth; the mid-air; Lakshmi; the great hero; of shining armlets.

जननो जनजन्मादिर्भीमो भीमपराक्रमः॥101॥

Janano jana-janmādir bhīmo bhīma-parākramaḥ

The begetter; source of the birth of beings; the terrible; of terrible prowess.

verse 102

आधारनिलयोऽधाता पुष्पहासः प्रजागरः।

Ādhāranilayo'dhātā puṣpahāsaḥ prajāgaraḥ

Dwelling of every support; who upholds without support; whose smile is a flower opening; the ever-wakeful.

ऊर्ध्वगः सत्पथाचारः प्राणदः प्रणवः पणः॥102॥

Ūrdhvagaḥ satpathācāraḥ prāṇadaḥ praṇavaḥ paṇaḥ

Who moves upward; who walks the good path; giver of life; the syllable Om; the wager.

verse 103

प्रमाणं प्राणनिलयः प्राणभृत्प्राणजीवनः।

Pramāṇaṃ prāṇa-nilayaḥ prāṇabhṛt prāṇa-jīvanaḥ

The measure; the resting place of breath; who bears the breath; the life of the breath.

तत्त्वं तत्त्वविदेकात्मा जन्ममृत्युजरातिगः॥103॥

Tattvaṃ tattvavid ekātmā janma-mṛtyu-jarātigaḥ

Reality; who knows reality; the single Self; who has passed beyond birth, death and age.

verse 104

भूर्भुवःस्वस्तरुस्तारः सविता प्रपितामहः।

Bhūr-bhuvaḥ-svas-tarus tāraḥ savitā prapitāmahaḥ

The tree that is earth, mid-air and heaven; the ferry; the quickener; the great-grandfather.

यज्ञो यज्ञपतिर्यज्वा यज्ञाङ्गो यज्ञवाहनः॥104॥

Yajño yajñapati-ryajvā yajñāṅgo yajñavāhanaḥ

The sacrifice; lord of the sacrifice; the sacrificer; the limb of the sacrifice; who carries the sacrifice.

verse 105

यज्ञभृद् यज्ञकृद् यज्ञी यज्ञभुग् यज्ञसाधनः।

Yajñabhṛd yajñakṛd yajñī yajñabhug yajña-sādhanaḥ

Who bears the sacrifice; who makes it; to whom it belongs; who partakes of it; the means of it.

यज्ञान्तकृद् यज्ञगुह्यमन्नमन्नाद एव च॥105॥

Yajñāntakṛd yajñaguhyam annam annāda eva ca

Who brings the sacrifice to its end; the secret of the sacrifice; the food, and the eater of food as well.

verse 106

आत्मयोनिः स्वयञ्जातो वैखानः सामगायनः।

Ātmayoniḥ svayañjāto vaikhānaḥ sāmagāyanaḥ

Whose womb is His own Self; self-born; the forest dweller; singer of the Saman.

देवकीनन्दनः स्रष्टा क्षितीशः पापनाशनः॥106॥

Devakīnandanaḥ sraṣṭā kṣitīśaḥ pāpa-nāśanaḥ

Devakinandana, the joy of Devaki; the creator; lord of the earth; destroyer of sin.

verse 107

शङ्खभृन्नन्दकी चक्री शार्ङ्गधन्वा गदाधरः।

Śaṅkha-bhṛn nandakī cakrī śārṅga-dhanvā gadādharaḥ

Bearer of the conch; holder of Nandaka the sword; bearer of the discus; whose bow is Sharnga; bearer of the mace.

रथाङ्गपाणिरक्षोभ्यः सर्वप्रहरणायुधः॥107॥

Rathāṅgapāṇir akṣobhyaḥ sarva-praharaṇāyudhaḥ

Whose hand holds the wheel; who cannot be shaken; whose weapons are every means of striking.
